Anyone bought one of these?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HOLDEN-COMMODORE-POWER-STEERING-RESERVOIR-TANK-/280513427851?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item414fe7398b

Seems good value for 1/2 what some of the others are asking....

Been looking at those for a while, he has good feedback for PWR stuff. I would like one that's for sure. No it's not me by the way! Similar location though.

I got one of these a while back. Look good ( sh*t loads better than the ugly standard one ), easy to fit. I also added an inline filter just to be safe ( from Pedders )

If you're ever down in Sydney, I've got a brand new PWR one with a black lid you can have cheaper than that. It's just collecting dust..

I prefer the ASE looks over the PWR one but its a billion dollars in difference. I paid around $700 but it came with a cooler/fittings/lines and the likes.

I got the Russo one for about the same price ($215) and it holds 30% more fluid which = cooler fluid temperatures.

More fluid only means it takes longer to get to the same temp :) The tank itself doesn't offer any cooling properties, especially being so close to the engine.

I had a PWR unit and it caused fairly bad aeration. Factory one back on and aeration was gone immediately. PWR swapped that for another unit to see if there was something screwy with the original one but the same thing happened again. I ended up getting a refund, but PWR were great to deal with so no complaints there :)

ASE's cooler kit is a great kit..

Correct.... but used with a PS cooler it keeps it cool long enough to get through 3 - 5 laps at the track without protest. No aeration issues noticed but I suspect there would be if I did extended laps. The PS used to complain like a bitch on the first lapsprints I did but has been as quite as a mouse since the above was installed.

Did you put the restrictor back in the return line as stock?

Nope PWR never mentioned it and if the factory one doesn't need it I don't see why an aftermarket one should.

I think the issue is that the aftermarket ones don't have a baffle hence the aeration issues. Correct me if I'm wrong.:)

The PWR one has a "baffle" however from memory it had 6 (maybe 4...) 10-15mm holes plus open sides (only tacked in) which obviously didn't work. IMO there was just too much room for the fluid to move around which makes you wonder why have it in the first place.

Factory one has a Vented cap so maybe that's why it worked without the restrictor.

Funnily enough the first PWR reservoir I got didn't have the seal in the cap, so it wasn't sealing  Second one had the seal but both had the same issue.

Dunno just suggesting possible reasons it might have been doing the froth thing with the Pwr and not the Stock one, I have the PWR but am using the factory restrictor in the return, I was a bit concerned about no vent though.

I also had it coated with Black heat dispersant coating and drilled/tapped the return so I can use an AN fitting due to some pipe routing issues.

I'm holding a PWR one in my hand - there is no baffle. Completely empty inside.

Must have been a production change as mine has the baffle with the 14mm holes.

I bought mine about 12 months ago, it has a baffle.
Brad at Enhanced Automotive drilled a very small hole
in the cap to release some pressure. Seems to be
going ok.
