does it have the small rear lights in the roof pillars like a sedan?
when i pulled mine apart to change the roof lining i put those lights in the wrong way and they shorted out on the body. blowing the fuse.
other than that find the plug thats feed the interior lights and unplug it, then try a new fuse if it still blows you no its not the interior lights doing it,if it doesn't blow it will be the wiring under the roof lining or interior lights blowing it,i would say being a monaro the harness would run up inside the rear quarter plastics, hope that helps

thanks mate. he says it's got two switches so i guess it has the small rear lights under the dome light cover. not sure though.

how did you manage to pull the dome light cover off? did it yank off easily?

they come off easy, may have to use a small screwdriver to unclip the cover but i'm not sure what the interior lights are like on a monaro

There's a short in the system somewhere. Remove the sunvisors and check the wiring for them - sometimes they get pinched on the body. Pull down the roof lining and check the wiring.

we pulled out the interior illumination relay and placed it back in. then placed a new 10a fuse in. it seems to work ok for a while until the doors get locked remotely using the key fob. then the fuse blows.

it seems to mainly happen after the doors are locked.

any guesses?

i think i've circled the problem. the door switch is shorted when door is open. saved the mate some $ for an auto electrician. new switch ordered. :goodjob:
