Ok I have a 2007 HSV Senator and looking to spend some cash on it,I like the 20inch Pentagon mags that have been out for a while .They emailed me today and said that unless your vehicle came out with these it is HSV's policy not to sell me these !
So surely this has come up with other guys on this forum is there a way around this or do I have to go in to the parts dept with some body that owns another HSV with these mags and ask them to order them for me (bloody ridiculous)
I cant post a picture up as I don't have enough post. But if you google under images "pentagon hsv wheels" they come up on the first page.

basically if you want genuine HSV stuff (wheels body kits etc) you need to provide a build # and a hsv vin # if you dont have that you cant buy the stuff

Yes I have both of those items but they are saying the vehicle didn't come out with those mags in stock form so I cannot buy them as a replacement.

I Did that because they are only 10 minutes away from home and they said they are contracted to HSV Australia and cannot sell these unless they risk litigation.
Go to a yard, take note of a vin and a build number and then go to their parts Dept and order :) They will probably think the dealer is ordering the wheels :)

I went through the same thing when I bought my E2. It was already in production with 19s and couldn't be changed even then. So I took delivery and tracked down the wheels I wanted. There are some nice BBS wheels around too but finding something that is good quality, will suit and clear brakes is tough. All I can suggest is keep your eyes open on ethingy and here and ask Frank at Wheelking to give you a call if he gets onto any.

Ive heard of this happening but yet to experience it myself. Ive bought many a HSV part ranging from decals, interior bits, body kit peices etc and yet to be asked to produce a VIN number or HSV identification.

At least they are trying to maintain the brand integrity. In the long run I think the policy is good for HSV owners. Must cost HSV a fair bit in lost sales of parts though. Part of what you pay for when you buy a HSV.
You should get in contact with Wheel King.

As said above try another dealer.
I've been dealing with the same dealership for years and have never had problems buying HSV parts even when I didn't own one.

Yet they bring out a "special edition", special referring to the sticker on the back window. I completely understand what you're saying, but HSV are kidding themselves.

I'm sure a non special edition owner would not be allowed to buy that sticker :rofl::rofl:

I dont own a HSV and have had no problems buying some HSV parts from dealers. I have had problems buying certain things though. Like the centre binnacle, gauges and trim. Apparently when the dealer tried to order it all in one hit it came back with a 'no', re-assess fault or something.
I kind of understand HSV wanting to keep owners happy in the market with their purchase being what it is designed to be(keeping it original). HSV has that certified HSV re-sale scheme dont they? But out of all of HSV's sales, how many genuinely stay stock. I dare say it is not 50-50. So, I think they are being a bit dumb by not allowing their customers, who can provide a VIN and build number, to buy certain items.
I agree that the best is try other dealers. One will be certainly happy enough to take money off your hands. If not, keep an eye out on ebay, this forum etc and buy them that way.

I'v been driving BMW's for 15years and if you want to buy any "M" stuff no problems..but its not cheap...FINE my choise..
whats the problem for HSV if poeple want to build there car with HSV stuff..
its more turn over for them...free advertising for HSV... and it may sell more HSV cars...
they should wake up and think of customer service...

A while back (late last year??) HSV sent a memo to all dealers threatening them with even loss of HSV dealership if they were found to be selling HSV items to non HSV owners.

At retail level, if HSV allow too many variations from their purchasing conditions, it makes it too difficult for the industry to know just what you can or can't sell over the counter.
HSV release for retail sale many of their wheels in accessory "SPZ" packages, once they stop being fitted on the production line. No doubt Pentagons will appear once HSV stop fitting them to new cars.
The restriction still applies here because the owner of (say) a cheap secondhand E1 could be trying to buy parts to make it look like they've just bought a brand new E2, p!ssing off those that just spent 70-80K on a new one.
HSV have fundamentaly always tried to keep their cars original. No system is ever perfect, but as we all know from comments posted on this forum, there's no way you'll ever please everyone. It's either p!ss off the older model owner by not selling them newer parts, or it's p!ss off the brand new owner by letting others copy their new car. :bawl:

i agree with Planetdavo's comments
because its very hard to please everyone.
For instance the Bemas, are so easy to make look like an M3 the older models, you don't take much notice if you see a genuine one or not.
But the point here is the gentlemen already owns a HSV, and just wants to use a different set of HSV wheels --so I can see his frustration...
Nevertheless when I had E1 GTS and contacted for E2 GTS rims I too was told the same story you need a genuine VIN # from E2 GTS otherwise no go.
Anyway--can't always blame HSV but customers are entitled to their opinions too

HSV's sentiments about keeping the brand pure would be fine if they didn't flog parts off to Holmart and JHP etc. I wanted to fit a Senator spoiler to my car and was told by the dealer no you cannot have one. But I can buy genuine though from those places. I cannot see what is wrong with someone who already has an HSV wanting to customise it with genuine HSV parts. Afterall I don't want my karma E2 R8 to look like every other one made. I want it to look the way I want it. I would have optioned pentagons, GTS interior, senator spoiler if I could have straight from the factory. I was told by HSV I obviously bought the wrong car. Ah so I can get a Senator for the same money as an R8? But HSV you stopped making the Senator otherwise I would have. So I bought genuine wheels aftermarket and after selling my R8 wheels privately they cost me about the same as the pentagon upgrade would have, I bought a Walky spoiler because I lost interest in the Senator one and carbon looks incredible with the karma. I will be changing the exhaust tips for quads when I get a chance to finish welding them up just have to cut the new tips and join the S bends and next year probably swap out the front seats for GTS foams. The factory has missed out on all those sales and keeping customers happy.

Yes there's an element of truth to the Holmart/NVU argument mjrandom, but it (mostly) gets back to the comment I highlighted about items for current model vehicles. JHP is not a legitimate example, as they do not do their current model business with HSV's approval. Theirs is a dealer selling to them, and they seriously risk their franchise by doing so. I can't say any more.
All of Holmart/NVU's current model HSV product, unless approved "accessory" lines, are damaged secondhand surplus items, not new items. Some of the older stuff isn't damaged, but HSV have always been a bit easier on this stuff.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree with the policy, as there is no "right" answer, but I thought it may help some of you understand HSV's side.

SLP in the US does the same as Hsv. Eventually they cave in to make more money and sell their stuff to anyone. I wonder what Hsv would think about a US G8 having all their authentic parts in the states?
