Hey there,
I have a 2003 CV8-R, the Turbine grey one. Is it a VX or VY model and what differentiates the two in terms of when each was made?
Cheers - damian

VY. You can tell just by looking at the interior. Not very hard...

They weren`t made as a VX or a VY.....they were all V2. It is the interior that is carried over from the sedans, that most people relate them to :teach:

As mustanger correctly states, no Monaro was ever a VX or a VY.
Before the vented bonnet VZ model Monaro came out, they were all V2.
Series 1 model's are identified by VIN's starting with 6H8V2...there was never a CV8R in a series 1.
Series 2 and 3 Monaro's are identified by the newer style VIN 6G12...
The "2" identifies it as a V2 still. These are commonly referred to as VY "models", due to their VY dashboards. A series 2 CV8R is turbine grey, a series 3 CV8R is pulse red.
VZ Monaro is correct.

See above for explanation.
Deleted electric aerial occured at series 3, to concide with exports starting. It's the point Monaro's starting becoming more American, less Aussie original. Headlight changed physical shape for VZ, using US GTO housings with the original V2 internals. The only earlier change was the CV8R models using silvervision indicator globes rather than the orange globes, to more closely match the appearance of the projector low beam.
