Gidday, I am hoping for some answers through this section (seems the appropiate one).

I recently asked a question in a ForSale ad on here.
The post went off to the usual censorship delay message.
Today I received a PM back from a site Moderator that I have never seen before. When I replied asking why I even got this message, it was blocked saying error had occurred -

"Moderators has chosen not to receive private messages or may not be allowed to receive private messages. Therefore you may not send your message to him/her.

If you are trying to send this message to multiple recipients, remove Moderators from the recipient list and send the message again. "

Strange thing is the PM message says -

If you have any questions, you can ask an administrator for assistance

This is the message & my attempt at a reply -

Hi there,

Why am I getting notices like this ?
Am I restricted from posting for some unknown to me reason ?

I don't remember ever seeing one of these before when i have posted.

Cheers

Deek

Anyone shed light on this ?

Yours sincerely

CONFUSED :)

I have sent two pm's to mods requesting a thread title change, at least you got a reply. Not bagging anyone, just a straight up reply.

Because posts in the for sale section etc have to be approved by a mod?

You can't reply to the username "Moderators" because it is unattended and just used by the forum software to send automated messages. The forum sends that message when a moderator approves your post into a managed forum like the Classifieds.

It does say you can ask an admin for assistance, it doesn't say to PM them. To get in touch with them you'll need to send an email to the relevant address.

Cheers,
Dan

Thanks Dan,

I just saw some other threads like mine, giving the same answer as yours. Funny, I never noticed it before but maybe I haven't posted replies in other peoples ForSale section threads.

Cheers

Moderation requests must be made via the Report Post link at the right of every post (for issues with threads/posts), or via the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page (for issues with the forums in general). If sent this way, the request goes to ALL Mods at the same time so whoever is online first and has the time can action it.
Requests made via PM to individual Mods are generally ignored (for moderation issues) as the PM system is for Private Messages to individuals rather than moderation requests.

Further to the above statement, any member who uses the PM system to contact a moderator for the purpose of harassment regarding any moderation decisions will be subject to disciplinary action. Up until now, this has been largely ignored, however rest assured any future PM's to moderators of this nature will yield swift action.
