They're factory fitted. Quite a few people have bought and fitted LED strips to their VE SS/SSVs and they come up looking quite good - only about $40.

Thanks Wonky, Thats what I am chasing. The LEDS that run under the headlight base. Not sure if a run of the mill Auto elec would be able to fit them. Seen one around Brisbane but he was going in the opposite direction.:)

They're easy to fit as on a self adhesive strip and wiring shouldn't be a problem for any half decent auto-elec.

One should note that the way these aftermarket lights are being fitted does not make them DRLs, it makes them "auxillary lights" like spotlights or driving lights so running them technically puts you at the same risk as fog lights, undipped high beam etc. But as we know, the risk is very very low.

Proper DRLs, like fitted to my Merc, go out when any of the other lights are switched on, and only work during daylight.

Any half decent auto-elec can wire them up to turn off when the headlights come on!

Exactly, but connecting them to the park lights as indicated in this and another thread, doesn't accomplish this, just the opposite.

HOLDEN VE COMMODORE G8 PONTIAC DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS (http://shop.bluewiremotorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=39&products_id=229)

HOLDEN VY VZ COMMODORE & PONTIAC DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS (http://shop.bluewiremotorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=39&products_id=230)

Bluewire Motorsport make them for the VY-VZ and also for the VE
They're in South Australia and the kits are supposed to be way better than the ebay strips.
Something about the angle of the LED's
Their kit includes a diode so i'd say they come on with ignition but go off when the headlights are turned on.

I was thinking about getting them for the VY but ill wait until I see more of a response. Wouldn't want it to end up like another chev grille and while wall disgrace.

I have bought a set of LED Day light from Bluewire in SA the instructions and the wiring are easy to install but the light aren't that bright. I'm going to see a Auto Elec to make sure there is enough power getting to the LED's, when you change over from headlight to parkers the LED are bright for a second and then become dull..

Keep me updated, I was looking at them today and thought about ordering them. Might put it off until you get some feedback from the auto elec.

Hi Mate, I emailed Bluewire and made them aware of the problem that you had and asked them what the fix was. They responded quickly with.....

Hello David
Here is the Update wiring information for VE SS SSV & HSV Headlights.

Can you please pass this on to LS1 website.
Reason its dull it because the earth feed is not good on the higher class headlights as the bulbs are different than the standard VE Headlights.

Using a relay fixes the problem of dull LED light

Hope this helps

Exactly how mine are fitted. Turn on with ignition, but when any other lights come on, they turn off. Just need to whack in a relay and u r sweet :)

Spoke to Sean from blue wire and that problem is now sorted. I have some ordered and on there way. He was certainly very helpful and more than happy to supply any info that I needed. Currently they are doing some work on the VE commodore space key system. Sounds interesting and looking forward to the results on that. Will keep everyone updated with the key and the DRLs. Cheers:)

We'll see
