Bought one of these for the other half. Fun to drive, quite zippy, handles well, but could use a bit more go. Anyone know if these can be tuned or any other suitable performance mods?

Thanks.

I think there was/is a 1 make rally series around these. No idea how close the rally car is to the road car but there may de some development done there you can learn from.

Yep, beat a grandpa in a Calias off the lights the other day. I think his blanket, hat and box of tissues on the rear parcel shelf was slowing him down... :jester:

Let's not start a blower Vs turbo thread on a suzuki!!! (but a blower FTW so you don't ruin the 4 cylinder exhaust note :jester: )

headers, tune and pod filter may not make it that much faster but it would feel racier and I reckon that's what you'd really be after not a front wheel spinning torque steering over capitalised franken trolley

Yeah, that would probably do the trick :goodjob:

The Sport has 5-stud wheels, compared to the 4-stud on the "lesser" models too I think. Might make aftermarket wheels hard to come by, I'm guessing?

why ruin it if it's the mrs car.

keep it stock.

i doubt she wants to put up with a fart cannon out the back and droning everywhere for the purpose of making an extra 1kw at 6000rpm.

so yeah, i would leave it stock, less headaches and less defects.

What size rims are they? My Fiesta has 16x7 (I think they are x7). I went to Jax in Belconnen and got some Yokohama Advan Neova AD07s. 205/50/16 semi comps on a car that handles pretty well and only weighs a ton.... very fun at roundabouts!

I believe ase make a turbo kit for them would give it a bit of pep

put a massive cannon exhaust on it, a turbo with a loud blowoff valve, dump it on big wheels with tiny profile tyres, smack a huge spoiler on it, maybe some stripes, oh and dont forget the bodykit!

Sounds like you'd then offer to buy it off me. Knob.

ACT_Cross8 comes on hear asking for some advice for his WIFE's car, thats right his WIFE's car. He asked a question regarding tuning, not how to put cannons or how to make it fully sick. Instead he gets smartass replies giving the usual V8's rule, rice burners suck bs response. Grow up guys.

In answer to your question, I think piggy back is about the only thing out there for them at the moment. Powerchip do something for them, heres some info from their website.

"Swift 1.6i produces 92 kW and 148 Nm.
Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to 104 kW, and it's torque to between 165 Nm and 168 Nm. The price of the Powerchip is AUD $1,690.00." http://www.powerchipgroup.com/interact/datasheets/datasheets_one.asp

Ouch. That's expensive.

Bit disappointing about the typical V8 hoon responses. :(

Grab some lightweight multi-spokes for it, some wider, sticker rubber, extractors & exhaust, some intake mods and a tune. Not sure on availability though.

I must say I have a soft spot for the Swifts. Imagine a forged stroker with a supercharger!

Thanks Daniel and B_V. The chip sure is expensive, $140/kw!

Thanks for the tip, Mick. Our tyres are 195/50/16s at the moment, might look into them when due for a change :goodjob:

No worries. I've had the tyres on for nearly 10,000 km now and they are as good as ever with a fair bit of meat left. Reports on Tirerack.com put the life between 5000 and 20000 miles but most of these were higher powered rear drivers (M3, 911, etc).

Send me a PM if you want to meet up for a look or a drive.

Jump onto www.redlinegti.com and have a look.
If you can sift through some of the wankers and their bullshit there is some good info for the Sport.
Cheers Tim.

I know a bloke who has a Peugoet Gti. He put a pod intake on it and an exhaust. It was still very quiet but I drove the thing and its very nippy. He said it had massive mufflers on it stock to keep em quiet. Maybe it was the weight saving of the smaller mufflers than the actual flow which made it go harder. lol.

Maybe just a panel K&N or some freeer flowing mufflers to liberate a few kw. Keep all the stock pipework just a little better muffler, keep it quite but give it a bit of bark up top. It certainly worked a treat on his Gti.
