Just had a look on ebay for valve spring compressor to do the springs in my LS1 and came accross this.

That'll work fine, you just need to make sure the bolt has sufficient thread contact in the head when working with heavy springs.

And, be sure not to snap that bolt in your nice soft alloy head!!!

What did u decide? It looks a bit random to suit all GM heads?? The proper crane tool etc are hard to go past and do the job awesome and 2 springs at once, we done the valve springs in around 20mins with it and if doing complete cam package the cost we were saving was worth having the correct tools and since have done 4 valve spring/cams on ls1/2's in the short time just a shame the L98/LS3 tool is slightly different.
