Hi,

i just bought a VZ Crewman SSZ.

i noticed when turning on full lock, very slowly (eg into a parking space in a carpark), the car feels as though it 'pushes' forward, like understeer, and does not turn smoothly. i can hear the front tyres dragging a little. this is only on full lock, or very close to it.

i was wondering if this is normal behaviour that i need to adjust to ( i have for the last 8 years always driven small 4 cyl cars, so the size is taking some getting used to!), or if i have a problem with the diff perhaps?

i also noticed that there is a noticeable diff whine, particularly noticable as you are slowing down to a stop. though i have read that crewman do suffer diff whine, so am hoping this is normal?

any advice appreciated.

Thanks everyone

Hi, not to sure about the full lock thing.
The diff noise is fairly common. Replace the diff oil will quieten it down.Depends on what oil you put in as to whether you need to put the additive with it.(do a search i am petty sure that there is a thread on oils)

On full lock my tyres just rub the plastic innerguard. But it has been lowered with with 245/18s on it.They are a big car to turn and at a little longer than a statsman you wouldnt expect it to have a great turning circle.

My diff started whining at around 30,000km. Dealer tried to palm it off as everything from tyre noise (because I had fitted non-standard tyres), to wind noise from my roof racks (because they were non-Holden roof racks). I finally had it rebuilt last service (150,000km) with new bearings and gears required (and NOT at the dealers).
