I have an optus wifi home interent setup. Its been set up for a while but i now need the password for my Ipad. For the life of me I can't remember the password. I have tried every combination. I know shit all about computers.
Can any one help me on how i can retrive the password or a way i might be able to reset the system and setup a new password.
Thanks guys.

Have you got a network cable that you can plug into your notebook and your router?

The router is the "box thingy" that is connected to your phone line/cable.
If you do, plug them together, wait 30 seconds, then open an Internet Browser window. (The blue "e")
Go to the address http://192.168.1.1
If you see a fancy webpage, play around there till you find it

There should be a reset pin hole located on the router somewhere. Press it and it will return to factory. ie open access and you'll have to configure everything once more.

Ain't it 192.168.0.1 by default?
factory reset should be your last resort if you don't know the ISP settings.
what model router is it? should be able to d/l a user guide from the manufacturer's web page

yeh sometimes is on the bottom, with our old one, you opened up a browser and typed in http://10.1.1.1 i think it was and you could view or locate the password, just gotta look around and find it
white lie

Mine is at 192.168.2.1
You can do a factory reset from there, pressing the button on the router itself only does a power reset on mine. Its a Belkin N series though. The password for the router settings is also different to the network connection (ie the one you type in to connect to the network). It will either be on the bottom of the router like said, or be something really easy, sometimes blank ;)

If you can get into the router, dont factory reset it .. Just change the wireless key.
Most will be 192.168.1.1 if your modem is a router, otherwise it will be on another subnet 192.168.0.1 or vise versa
I suspect he may have gone to factory defaults as he hasn't replied in a bit..

Had that problem once, power supply transformer took a dump. Looked at the instructions and then accessed the default user and password. Worked like a charm.
