Hello there,

What race Data Logging can I use with the L98 running Drive By Wire and VE E38 ECU??

My little project circuit race car is coming along and the time is fast approaching where I have to make a decision.

The L98 is installed into a little Jap car so it does not have all the ususal GMH stuff and I am free to run a proper race dash like a Motec, Racetech, Haltech, etc etc

I have done the usual searches and cannot find a simple answer.

The Racetech one that has the mini SD in the racedash does not have a module yet to talk to the LS engines. They claim they are testing one but have no idea when it might be ready.

I thought I could cheat with a temporary fix by using a VESS dash but apparently that will not work in a Jap car. I was going to add my Performance Box with Aeroforce Guages for the time being but that will not work unless I wire all traditional guages as well. No thanks.

Racetech Dash could be years away before it talks to the GM ECU and I need something in the next couple of weeks

What Data Logging works with the late model ECU?

PLEASE!

My tuner uses EFI Live.

Basically what I want is a race dash that talks to a GM ECU for DBW from the VE or C6.

I will purchase the ECU once I know there is a Dash that can talk to it.

HELP PLEASE!!......

I believe a lot of the dashes can receive ODBII data, so the stock ECU is OK, so you'll at least get a few parameters if you do this, you just won't get all the manufacturer specific stuff.

Thanks for that.
Any dashes in particular??
I especially like the Racepak Data Logger dash but apparently it does not talk to Holden ECU?
Is there a data logging dash that i can use with the VE Commodore ECU?

As far as I know there are no dashes that interface directly with the Holden ecu. If you had a corvette ecu Racepak is the go. I use the Racepak dash in my Holden with their 4 way expansion box and sensors. I added oil pressure and temp, water temp and fuel pressure. To buy the whole kit is about $3k here I believe,I got mine direct.

Like many others I have been holding out for the Racepak obd2 interface but decided to get the vnet stuff as I was sick of waiting. If you change to haltec or autronic ecu they connect directly. Or go the $10k motec system. You can see why I decided $3k is not bad for what I got. I also have the throttle/steering and brake logging package to install at some stage.

Thanks for that Garry,

It's what I had basically researched but it is really good to have someone confirm it as I was NOT overly confident I had it right.

Maybe now the question should be "Is the C6 ECU usable/mafless tunable on L98 6 litre?" I would assume so but might put up a separate thread.

THANKS AGAIN MATE!

The AIM Dash is listed as supporting the Corvette LS2, LS3 and LS7 under OBDII CAN format.

You could always run a flat screen and a virtual dash with EFILive. Uses a laptop to both log data and run the virtual screen, you can then adjust the tune via the same screen. Here's a slightly modified stock virtual dash from EFILive, running a saved log file from an E38 ECM.

Note that with this setup, you can also log the brake pedal if it's hooked up to the ECM. If not, you can use one of the analogue inputs to monitor the brake pedal.

Thank you!!!

That's great news. I really appreciate it

I have tried google but no luck. Do you have a link to the model dash?

Thanks Simon.

Would I need to have a laptop in the car to actually log the files?

No with EFILive you can Blackbox log to a sd card (All contained in the V2), you won't fill a 2gb card in a day or four lol.

Here ya go:

I'm sure the MXL would support it.

If your into writing CAN templates the Motec would also do it.

Well I am fsar from a techie but that looks good.

So you reckon it definitely talks to E38?

Heres's a pic of my build as of last week. Well I was gojng to but cannot find the manage attachments button or any upload features.

See I said I was far from a techie!
