Question for the drag racers/tuner/engine builders?
with E85 roughly 110 octaine and running 12 to 1 comp how much gas can be used safely or does it realy require a higher Octane fuel?

N2O gives your engine more oxygen. therefore you require more fuel to keep your afr's correct, different octanes will only alter the quantitiy of fuel required to correct the afr
your max shot of N2O is only governed by your engine build/components

Whats a higher octane fuel?
the guys in the US advised me to be very careful with E85 with 12 to 1 and gas. worngly or rightly i assumed a higher octane fuel was needed then.
fell free to enlighten me Tuna. hell thats why i posted this question........

One the best guys to speak to about NOS in Australia mate, is Simon Kryger. He does a lot of setting up of NOS Pro Street engines, so he will know your answer.
There is a NOS speciality fuel by Sunoco I think. Does E85 burn lighter? So if you can keep the fuel up to the engine and its built to take the NOS, you should be fine, maybe

i cant see a problem running e85 with n20
advantages i can see are you wont have to run as big a shots,
but you might have trouble supplying enough fuel,

different octanes will only alter the quantitiy of fuel required to correct the afr
Different stoich AFR's will alter the quantity of fuel needed when spraying. Not the octane. To work out the final AFR you want on the gas you would use an equation like this.
[(HP NA /Nitrous HP) * Maximum Brake Torque AFR]+[(N2O Shot Size/Nitrous HP)*6.9]

What he said :)
E85 from a tuning perspective is extremely close to Methanol - re limits of detonation and simply blows any race gasoline we have tested out of the water

Most of the aftermarket piston rings will take a 100hp as min
it comes down to fuel supply, plugs, reading the plugs and heat range of the plugs and gaps-

I dont see any probs....if anything i would say you would need add more fuel for the same shot of nos as you would use on a normal fuel shot.
