The ones that are really interesting to me:
The new criteria, coming into effect on Monday, means drivers can travel at up to 5km/h over the limit on five occasions during the 30-minute test. At present they are allowed to exceed the limit by up to nine per cent three times during a test, before failing.

Ok, that's not *so* bad... but it gets worse

The Queensland driver test also allows examinees to stall six times before failing, steer with one hand on six occasions and fail to indicate six times. Drivers can also fail to start the engine five times and pass.

who give's a crap about steering with one hand, when your in the middle of no where it's not a safety risk, but failure to indicate? that should get you banned from re-attempting the drivers test for a year. Stall six times? Sure even an experienced driver can stall once, but six? Really?

How does this promote driving safely?

Just read this as well.....This comes just a few weeks after Mark Skaife's effort to promote STRICTER license testing and driver training/education.

Seriously makes me think that the "powers that be" have absolutely no fukken idea.....

Inter state bashing aside - banana benders! - this is horrid, I don't even want to think of the kind of drivers this will produce.

Sure there will always be good drivers that get produced, but there never the problem. Its the bad drivers this lets through that's scary... how the hell can you stall a car 6 times, not indicate and be called 'competent'.

they should make the J turn, and hand-break parking compulsory.

how can you be allowed to break the law and still pass ?

what happens if your driving your allowed 5km/h over during the test, and drive past a radar gun ? set with a 4km/h tolerance ?

f*cking idiots.

all they care about is money. More drivers = moer cars on the road = more rego, more ctp, more fines, = more revenue.

how long does this sh!t have to go on for ? when are we going to get people in power who have a f*ckin clue about anything ?

In QLD 5km/h over is not a traffic offense. I think the have either 10km over, or 10%

another thing with QLD drivers i have noticed, is overtaking on dual or triple lane highways, they continue to stay in the right lane, they will not move over to the left, theres nothing in the left lane, so others have to go into the left lane overtake and back into the right. also in school there was one kid who was going for his qld L's license and failed like 6 times which was only a written test, he then past and was allowed to drive

Unfortunately this is the way society is going in every aspect of life.Especially for the young ones who aren't allowed to fail at school, cant be critisised for doing something wrong or told no,because they will be scarred for life. Its just more PC madness and it's getting worse everyday.

The Queensland driver test also allows examinees to ......., steer with one hand on six occasions

I certainly hope that there is no one going for a manual license then......

What a joke, I failed my first test because I just ticked over the speed limit and just touched a single unbroken line (didn't even cross the line), TWO bloody errors and a fail....

No wonder kids these days have zero respect for the road and users.

Well if they let any idiot have a licence there are more people on the roads to generate more revenue.

Exactly, if you fail the test that bad they now have a garaunteed income from you when you get fined for the once not indicating and the like. It goes to show it is all about revenue and not about road safety, this just proves it.

I'm currently in the process of getting my HR license and was talking to the instructor and he said they are relaxing some of the rules at test time so they can get through the black-log of booked tests for a 'normal' license.

This isn't the case for MR or HR tests tho, but pretty scary to think that there will be more not so up to scratch P platers flying around.

Since driving the learner truck around I start to stress out when a P plater is infront in the right lane and try and squeeze in to the left lane in the area I plan to stop the truck...

When I went for my licence it was a case of one little mistake and you failed!! No wonder there are so many incompetent and clueless people on the roads now!!
