Is there a reason why the LS1 pages keep automatically refreshing? This is been happening since Saturday.

No issues for me. Are you viewing a specific thread or page?

been happening on my machines for the last week or so too.
i get a refresh "click" sound play, but i think it's something to do with the Advertising system as i can see the urls at the bottom of the browser changing.
p.s i use i.e 8

same for me, thought my computer had issues, most of the time if you dont have the sound on you dont even notice, but with the sound on it's annoying as hell and sometimes you see the page flicker as it refreshes. Has refreshed 4 times just writing this :vpo:

OK, I think we have enough "Me To" posts in here. If you're not going to post some specific information don;t bother posting please, it just clutters things up.
Can someone list a few details?
Browser used:
Browser version:
Type of connection: Direct to Internet or proxied
How often the refresh occurs:
The effects on the web page when the refresh occurs.
Any other effects of the refresh:

It's the 4 adds on each page updating every 20-40 seconds.
Makes a multi clicking sound each time they update Never used to do it.
Think the forum software previously only updated the adds if you changed pages and the clicking was less obvious.
I turned the Start Navigation sound off in control panel /sounds / program events to stop it. Unfortunately this stops all clicking when exploring folders or navigating web pages.
Internet Explorer 8, direct connection, no page reload just the adds, refresh / update info displays on bottom message bar

Here is some info Simon
Firefox
3.6.6
Direct through local firewall
Constantly
No visual changes. ie does not interrupt what your doing and if you didn't see the tab icon refreshing you wouldn't even notice it.
On further analysis it appears to just be the sponsor ads that are updating.

Affects me too.
Browser used: Firefox
Browser version: 3.6.6
Type of connection: Direct
How often the refresh occurs: every 30-40 seconds, it double-taps. refresh quickly then another longer refresh. However, nothing actually changes.
The effects on the web page when the refresh occurs. As stated above
Any other effects of the refresh: None observed.
Thought I'd quickly add - it's every LS1.com.au page. Doesnt' seem to exclude any at this stage - will update if I find any.
same problem here.
Browser, Internet explorer,unsure what version.
connected thru wireless router in house
may not refresh for a minute or two, but will then refresh constantly for around 2 seconds, followed by a refresh around every 2-4 seconds after that. i have not experienced any screen flicker etc as you normally would when refreshing a web page, just the sound, and the browser window in bottom left hand corner flashes the address as though you are clicking on a pabe button or link.
there appears to be no rhythm, very erratic in when it does this 'refresh'.
also appears to be effecting each LS1 page i have visited.
hope this helps.

OK.
I think we can put it down to the banner adds and from the looks of it, it should be happening every 40 seconds (depending on the load times of the individual banners, if the banners get our of sync, it's possible that each of the 4 could refresh at different times, each at a 40 second interval ).
Apart from turning off the "click" sound, there's not much that can be done ATM. I don't use the "click" sound option at all, I haven't for 10+ years..... It's a fairly common issue with IE to keep giving the "click" sound on item refreshes though. It would be good if you could set it to not sound on item refreshes, but to sound on a full page refreshes

This the exact same for me, its not in any timed sequence by thew look of it, will do it about 3-4 times in 30 seconds, then there is a long wait (maybe a 50-60 seconds) till the next lot of refreshing.

I just applied a work around. It removes the content but it fixes the refresh issue.

Why has it only just started to happen, never had an issue with anything refreshing before so it can't be "fairly common". It doesnt just refresh once when it does it, it clicks anywhere up to half a dozen times within a second.
Why should we change our settings when it's clearly a website issue?
How can it just be just the banner when the whole page sometimes refreshes?

We have brought the issue to the Forum Owners attention and are waiting for him to respond.

The banners ONLY refresh and NOT the entire page .. they are rotating on a 40sec cycle .. I have changed this to 60secs now in light of the "complaints".
I personally do not notice any slowdown nor do I get clicks etc.. the banners are limited to 50kb or less to ensure that load times are minimal, we sometimes get banners 300kb or larger sent to us but they are rejected due to their size.
Remember this forum is provided to the public free of charge and advertising/sponsorship is the only means of doing so. It is never easy finding a happy medium, there will never be pop-ups btw :)

Ok I have changed it to a 5min cycle for the banners now based on feedback ..
Let's see how that goes .. :)
