Hey i am thinking of importing some parts from the usa. Does anybody have any good or bad experiences with summit? If bad, where else can you reccomend with good service, prices and shipping?

Cheers, mitch.

Mitch,

I'm in the US and they are one of my main suppliers. My 2 main sources are Jeg's and Summit. I have never had a problem with either one.

I buy alot of gear from Summit and Jegs, very reliable and I use there online chat section to talk to their people to make sure everything is in stock before I buy.

Freight is a little dear but they get stuff quicker to me up here than I can get from Melbourne so def a thumbs up from me.

Postage will kill. Last thing I had sent from Jegs was a induction setup for my Javelin (about the size of a set of points). Was charged AU$50 to ship it!!!???

The only problem I have with Summit & Jegs is their overseas handling fee of about $24 just because the package is going overseas. I bought alot of stuff from Summit over the years but nowadays I tend to use them as a last resort or have a package sent to a friends place in the US and he forwards it on.

Mopar boys use Summit a lot with no problems.
I've dealt with them once and had no problems too.

I have got a lot of gear from Summit and they're great. They really are cheap. Postage is a bit up there occasionally but still far cheaper than buying local and quicker delivery too. From the ten or so orders i have placed with them there's been only one negative. The part I ordered was in stock in one of there shops and shows in stock on the site but was not in stock in Ohio which is the only store they ship internationally from and they told me they could not ship between stores. This really was a one off though and have been very impressed with the prompt deliveries otherwise. Their range is also simply incredible!

Jegs is also good but I have found they charge more for shipping. Both are light years ahead of their Aussie counterparts.

Another sort of good thing is they send me a new catalogue monthly. It's pretty brief but good for a skim through to see things you wouldn't find skimming their site.

I recently brought some parts from the states and i found postage costs have gone up compared to last year when i brought a heap of parts for my motor ? obviously exchange rate is down ! but compared to my last order posted costs have definitely risen. I tried to shop local (within Australia) but some peoples buisness ethics here leave allot to be answered for ! No phone calls back ,nothing in stock , outrages pricing with long waiting periods for orders . unfortunately drove my dollar back overseas where it came from ...
I have used summit in the past as well as speed inc ,lingenfelter and some others ! to date i haven't had any real problems and they all seam to get it here on time .. even with postage costs added in and the poor exchange rate ive still managed to save hundreds of dollars on small orders witch would easily escalate to thousands for larger orders ....

No problem at all. Bought some mopar and msd parts for a lot less than locally, including shipping.

I havent used summit but have got quotes from them, as well as Texas speed and Speed Inc. Found the postage pretty expensive. Found it much cheaper to set up a Borderlinx acc for the freight. Have used Thunder racing, Tick performance, SNL and EPS, all good.

Summit is like Rocket here in Australia, but cheaper and sometimes quicker getting you shit to you, did I mention it was cheaper.

I've brought heaps from them, never been a problem, only issues I ever had was a part was listed as available, ended up not being available for 2 weeks, so I removed it from my list (just emailed them) and they rectified the price and sent my stuff
