Hey Mate,
i just made this decision the other day. was interested in the WL caprice but ended up going for MY06 WL international, 6.0L
Apparently they made a few upgrades on the WK to WL. ie trans, electronic throttle cable, electronic start. that's all i can think of atm.
As for the differences between the caprice/statesman. just go to redbook.com and make a list of what you'll be missing out on, if u settle with the statesman. either way you'll be happy. i'll always buy V8 statesmans.
DVD Players - do you drive in the back? and if you have a girlfrind they'll be sitting in the front. only good if u have kids

There are a few differences, I have a WL Caprice.
Statesmans come in v6 and v8, caprices are only v8.
Statesmans come with optional leather, Caprice is only leather.
Caprices come with the bodykit, statesmans come with the nasty black plastic surround.
The WL series has electronic throttle, so when ur on the traction control, it doesnt feel like someone is punching u in the foot.
There are lots of differences between the caprice and statesman, however as a general rule if its an option in the statesman, the Caprice will definitely have it.
Redbook says that for a Caprice of that year you will be looking around 19-21K, for a Statesman you will be looking at $16-18K.
PS. No chrome outer door handles, only a satin internal door pull. And there is no chrome licence plate surround either.

international has led tail lights along with the faded out headlights.
pretty much a caprice but without a few goodies.
can someone tell me WHY THE F*** statesmans/caprice/calais don't have ipod connectivity? this car was worth like 55k back in 2006 you'd think they would have put a little AUX in connector... grrrr

I feel like a goose now thats the model I was thinking off damned friday moments. In WL they just have a fewmore creature comforts from memory. Basically a full optioned statesman however think that sunroof is still an option.

Finally bought a Black WL Statesman, Holden by design model, low kms, sunroof, excellant chrome work and paint, set of wheels, tinited windows etc etc, the last three weeks the satnav has been wrong, it tells me the location where I am but its about 10 kms from where I actually am??? The navigation part works, it takes me from "where I am" which is wrong to place i want to go, the cd in boot is working the antenna hasnt been tampered with, the little satellite logo on the screen is red. I tried everything, check the fuse, even restored factory settings on SAT NAV and even disconnected car battery for 20 minutes, ,,,, anyone help?????????
