I think you get what you pay for with superchargers. I know the raptors are a real popular choice for the Ecotec's, but i'd be sticking with a bigger vortech for the LS1. Depends how much power your after I suppose.

7PSI on a raptor is different then 7PSI on a decent vortec :) in other words the raptor could probably blow hard early but not have the stamina to finish the job so to speak ;)

When you claim they said or seen them say 300rwkw what was the starting base figure before the blower or any mods that went on was ?
190,200 rwkw?

Looks like a decent entry level kit but non-intercooled makes it a waste of time IMHO.

At the moment the car is marking 300 rwhp with 567nm of torque just. From a maffles tune and the current exhaust full stainless four into ones with a twin 2.5inch x force The car as ran a 13.1 @ 107mph on 18s

That's his car pre-blower ATM. He's fitting it this weekend apparently. Be interesting to see the results.
This is what Raptor are quoting ATM:
"The base kit with no intercooler gives (around 280rwkw potential) $3700
The base kit with no intercooler but with injectors is $4200
The intercooler kit is around $1400 (to be confirmed) (Potentially allowing 320rwkw)
For around $5600 you can have an intercooled 7psi system - compare this with other centrifugal systems and see the value being put forward here
Any LS1 Commodore owner wanting to run 9psi plus should consider a side mount Vortech or a valley mount Harrop, these are HEAPS more expensive but will easily work in the higher boost range. Anyone wanting 14psi plus should consider turbocharging only, something from ASE or the likes is good for this.
The system is easy to install and easy to remove, minimal effort, all easy DIY. On a scale of difficulty to install the Raptor system would be 2/10, a valley mount charger would be 8/10 by comparison. A turbokit is often more difficult again and would require you to have a hoist to access the underside of the engine/car."

Save your money and stay clear of these Raptor Blowers. They are cheap for a reason. Jezz@HDT did the development work on the first one for an LS1. He will confirm my opinion on them. But needless to say making 300rwkw WITH A CAM I wouldn't exactly call good value for money when a set of heads combined with the cam would of exceeded it for less money.
In the end they are ok for v6's. But are no where near effecient enough to provide enough air for a 5.7L

I know a few people that have them on V6's. And one on a 304ci VS. They are fine on the smaller motors, but i personally wouldnt use one on a LS1 or bigger. I used to speak with Tim a bit, and he said himself that they are not recommended for anything bigger then 5Ltr. That was a while ago though, and he did say he was developing a larger unit for LS1

the kits work well on the early motors but im yet to be convinced about the ls1 kit

Very very high intake temps from the LS1 ones I have done over the years. Up to 100oC intake temps

had a mate making 345rwhp from a vs 5l with just exhaust and raptor basic kit so for a 5l good bang for buck, early day ls1 kit tim was convinced that they were too small for a ls1 however i believe he has been working on the raptor R for bigger boost however i have not spoken with tim for a while.

I haven't looked at Raptor's for a while now but when I was, even though they made good numbers on the dyno, the times were never equating at the strip (this is on the V6 and 5L's so I would hate to see them on an LS based engine).

VS Ecotec (bog stock Ecotec at that) with 3" exhaust, Pacies, 3.9:1 LSD, and T56, full weight, ran 13.2 missing 3rd gear, on ET Streets. I think that is pretty good for track numbers. Most of the ones i know of run good times.
The 5Ltr one i mentioned earlier is the same one Brad (stealthvn) mentioned. He also knows the mate with the VS that has run 13.2.

dont get me wrong they seem to do the job oon the ecotec i think the v6 was doing 102mph if not more but the 5l ute it pulled very hard might be worth asking tim for any progress he was saying a month or so ago that the new ls1 kit was in development soon to have ite figures released
