Hey all,
I'm about to twin turbo my L98 and wanted to know what boost levels the stock motor can handle and what hp the stock fuel system can take?
What have you guys seen, heard or done?
(Also a suggestion of clucth - i'm looking at OS Giken twin plate...)
Thanks!

Hey mate I have Harrop HTV1900 S/C and am running 10-11 psi on std bottom end VE LS2, upgraded cam, valve train etc. Fuel system started running low at between 350-380rwkw's fuel pump wise with 63psi injectors, have VCM's new full tank replacement with twin pumps and extra fuel line, rated to 700rwkw and am pushing 409rwkw with 3000rpm stall in A6, they are good! Think the L98 will make the power easier with such great flowing heads and a cam to suit your setup! My Brothers LS1 T/Turbo is currently 6psi but will be put 10-12psi when fuel system sorted.
Look forward to seeing the build!!
Cheers!

Hey mate.. personally, I wouldn't risk running boost with the stock fuel system, upgrade injectors and pump should be the minimum.. remember it only takes running lean once under boost to destroy an engine..
Boost levels, depends on how long you want it to last really.. you should be able to comfortably run 9-10psi without issue..
Clutch, would go the a Tex Z grip...

Awesome info! Thanks heaps. :)
So i'm lookng at definately fuel system (injectors, rails & pump) with max boost levels at about 10psi with stock motor and the Tex Z grip. Should be good for about 500-520hp and high 10s pass yeah?
2ajmanvella82 - What ftlbs is your s/c ls2 putting out? Do i go triple plate (rated at 1200ftilbs) and be done with it or go twin plate (800ftlbs) for better daily driving? Honestly i've never driven a twin or triple plate around the streets before - is it really that hard?
Also, suggestions on what brand of 60lbs injectors and rails and pump (a local dyno shop to me said they use the harrop twin intank pump but he's changing it cause he's not confident with it). Is it difficult to switch to a single external setup?

just to throw a curvebull into the mix. i used to run the dual harrop tank on my ve with a hh122 about 12 months ago. anyway i removed the blower and sold the tank off and have just recently refited it back to the ve and thus loaded in the original blower tune.
To my surpise i have had to reduce the entire fuel table between 8-12% and im running just the stock tank with more boost. (13psi)

Thats a wierd one with standard tank hey! VCM one is definately a good setup, has a pump in each pot so have plenty fuel around each keep cool and not suck dry, extra fuel line so basically a double of std system so has b good! Have heard some intank replacements that put 2 pumps in one side u have keep tank fairly full if running real high figures as both pumps in 1 means less fuel in can around pumps?? Plenty good setups out there but!! My injectors are the long black 63psi that come fitted in supercharger, not sure brand, bosch?? But being turbo kit u will have to start with upgraded injectors at least and go from there.
I have auto that is built by sureshift and stall, so clutch wise yeah alot guys just using the twin plate, depends brand/rating etc i guess.
I am not actually sure rear wheel torque actually but the positive displacement superchargers pull very strong from down low.

Thanks for that Troy - great work on that build too by the way.
I've had a chat to a few shops i used to do business with back in Melb and also to the guys at ls1turbo....
the stock l98 can handle up to 11-12 psi boost
single intank pump replacement to a walbro gss-342 (255lts/hr rated up 550hp)
60lbs siemens deka injectors
valve spring upgrade for security (fyi ls1turbo recomm comp 918)
stock lines and rails are capable of handling the 550hp mark i'm aiming for. After that the motor goes boom so if you wanted more then you'll have to change them anyway - but i'm not heading down the full block mod road just yet so i know my max will be 550rwhp (or about 407rwkwasps).
Thanks for the info on the clucth too guys - i'm likeing the tex z grip triple plate (especially that i was quoted $4600 for the exedy carbon-r triple plate :flipoff: ). The z grip is retailing for $2250 so trade should bring that down under $2k :headbang:
I'll be heading off to powercruise for the stock setup's final glory days and then i'll post up the build for anyone who is interested. Thanks again everyone :goodjob:
