Today!
Left at 7:30am this morning and have just got back unloaded the Wagon and put the groceries away (stopped on the way back ion so I can veg on the coauch and watch car racing this weekend)

Skipped breakfast/coffee this morning, won't do that again on a 5 hour drive...

Got all my parts and OF COURSE remembered some more bits I need after I'd left to come home, called my Holden guy and he'll post em out.

Now I just have to find the connector and wires for the dwell control!

Thanks!

Wouldn't have a location on the Module itself?
(very helpful PDF that one!)

its the BCM that does it...

will need an upspec BCM for dwell control

will require a LUX or HIGH or one from a AWD Wagon

yours will more than likely be a MID

LMAO that's one way to put it ;)

Damn...

I found a connector in there that has a Pink and a Light Green wire but it's a different shape....

I'll check what BCM is in there tomorrow, if it's only a MID I'll scrap that idea it's just not that important and the Stalk was only $40 so no biggie!

Thanks again for all the help DD!

no worries.. any other questions just ask :)

the LUX and up BCM's give a few other nice touches like priority keys for different personel memory settings

Thanks! :D

While it's a bit frustrating it's sort of fun being a N00b here and learning new things! (the "other" forum I mod I'm the one answering all these questions)

Just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Let me know how you go brother - I am chasing bits for my Addy as well. Last time I spoke to them I was after a front rack, they were awesome and talked themselves out of a sale by giving me advice. Top blokes and closer to you than the big smoke.

About time I had a win out here :D!

Today!
Went out this morning and cleaned/refitted some more of the interior, gone about as far as I can go for now as I don't want to put the Pass seat back in till I feed the engine/trans loom in.

Made up a set of MSD 8.5mm plug leads as my Genuine ones got sacrificed in the last build and at $33 each I figured the MSD parts will do for now with the high temp silicone boots showing no signs of heat stress from the old T04z installation!

Do you have any way of finding out what colours the wires going to "a121" are?
(My Holden guy can do me a great price on the Top spec BCM)

Pin B - Black/Yellow to earth

Pin A - Grey/Black to BCM X2 pin 4

Pin B - Black/Yellow to earth

Thanks heaps!

Both the Cross6 VZ loom and the Cross8 VZ loom have a 2 pin connector in that location but a: it's too short to reach and b: it had a different plug to what's on the Wiper switch.

I just checked the VY and it has the same dwell control plugs as the new switch...

E-mailed my parts guy to see if there was a change in connectors..

IJ.
29-04-2011, 12:17 PM
Ok we can rule out that connector with the Pink/Light Green wires as it goes to one of the Brake pedal switches.....

How many pins does the X2 BCM plug have?
(messing around with the old V6 loom on the floor as it's easier to get at)

doubledip
29-04-2011, 12:25 PM
12 pins in X2... the markings and pin assignments are onthe BCM as well

IJ.
29-04-2011, 12:30 PM
Thanks again!

Figured it was the 12 pin one as it's the only connector with pin #4 empty, as I said was playing with the old loom as my entire dash is back in and it's a PITA to get to the BCM at the moment ;)

No probs running a new pair of wires when the new BCM arrives and if I can't find a connector I have a bunch of 2 pin DTM's here.

Is there any procedure to follow swapping in a new BCM?
(keeping in mind the new PCM as well...)

IJ.
29-04-2011, 02:17 PM
BCM and a bunch of new Constant tension hose clamps will be here mid next week, also had word back from my Mate in the US my Trans parts arrived so should be here sometime next week, good timing with the Mighty Aussie $ doing it's thing right now :D

yes there is a heap of programming to do with both the PIM,ECU BCM all needing to be linked using the security codes so it will start and wont display an error on the dash... if its a new ECU it will be easy.. if its not then becomes a headache as you need to know how to get round it ;)

also your new instruments will need to be programmed to suit car (all the options in it) along with the BCM needing the new options setup..

you will need new remotes and they need to be programmed in as well

IJ.
29-04-2011, 03:33 PM
2nd hand PCM but I "believe" the guy I bought it off turned VATS off and loaded my VIN into it along with an OS and Calibration that will "work"

Will it link to the existing BCM doing the On/Off/On/Off thing?

If so I won't swap in the new BCM yet, I'm assuming all this needs to be done via Tech2?

If ever you're down in Mexico I'd be happy to have you over for a BBQ as a thanks for all this!

doubledip
29-04-2011, 03:39 PM
the PIM still needs to be linked regardless of the BCM and if vats is turned off then it will start but the Cluster will more than likely complain anyway say wrong immobiliser

yes all is done with tech 2 and someone who knows what they are doing... taking it to a Holden workshop thye will more than likely say you will need a new ECU...

see how you go first

IJ.
29-04-2011, 03:45 PM
I'm guessing you know how?
(I can sense a road trip coming up either way)

doubledip
29-04-2011, 03:47 PM
yes We do.... dont need car.. can be done on bench all of it

PCM, BCM, PIM and instruments we have all the bench equipment to do it..

IJ.
29-04-2011, 03:54 PM
Whoo hoo!

How long will it take?

The Adventra could do with an interstate run the Cross6 had one ;)

doubledip

programming stuff doesnt take too long (hour or so wants been in and out of them)

The linking unlinking bit depending what state they are in varies

Ahhh cool, so same day kind of thing?

Didn't know If I'd need to leave it with you for a day or so is all!

Any idea on what that mystery Plug with the Pink and light green wires is for?

It's on both looms v6 and v8 one, taped up on both and the pink wire is connected to the 2nd switch on the brake pedal, one with 4 pins.
