Still can't believe they did not include a Start Go Option and LED's. Flash hardrives is a waste of time as most will run there music of an external hardrive source.

You cant believe it? Why? Does every other car have it and is it really that great?

LED's don't necessarily mean DRL.

Could be LED tailights.

And they look awesome on the impreza hatch:rofl:

But seriously, I'm assuming he is refering to DRL's given his comments in the DRL thread.

Is it just me or have they removed the black dotted/tint stuff off of the windscreen, you can't see that much of the mirror when looking from outside in my VE because of this stuff, I can hide my e-tag there without seeing it aswell?

HOLDEN UPS THE ANTE WITH REDLINE EDITION

by Holden (http://www.facebook.com/holdenaustralia) on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 6:03pm

Holden has put more performance polish on its sports luxury V-Series badge with the launch of five stand-out Redline Editions.

The Redline Edition Calais V-Series and SS V-Series sedan, Sportwagon and Ute will take up top positions in Holden’s updated VE Series II range, to be launched later this month.

Intended for enthusiast drivers, Redline Edition models offer high-level braking and sports handling capabilities to match their powerful 6.0-litre V8 credentials.

Advanced chassis dynamics come courtesy of specialist Holden engineers, who developed a track-inspired FE3 super sports suspension set-up* to complement the extra stopping power of four-piston Brembo high performance front brakes.

The Redline Edition range is further distinguished by exclusive forged and polished 19-inch alloy wheels, matched to low profile tyres.

Holden also raises the bar with the inclusion of full colour mapping satellite navigation
and a rear camera** as standard equipment in V-Series models, which feature the new multimedia touch screen Holden-iQ system and smart interior treatments.

All Redline Editions are compatible with bio-ethanol, also known as E85, an emission-reducing ‘fuel of the future’ that already powers V8 Supercars.
Holden Executive Director of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales John Elsworth said the Redline Edition introduced added excitement to the company’s high-feature luxury performance range.

“We know the performance enthusiasts who drive Holden sports vehicles enjoy the way the engine performs with the exhilarating V8 engine performance of our sport models,” Mr Elsworth said.

“We know that their interest goes beyond straight-line power and torque though. They’re looking for a satisfying overall driving experience with superior chassis dynamics.

“With the Redline Edition, we set out to improve that experience for them, to provide the ultimate sports ride by introducing features we know they’ll value the most - track-inspired handling for great road connection and control combined with awesome stopping power.

*FE3 suspension exclusive to sedan. **Rear camera – excludes Ute.

Redline Edition features include:

Brembo high-performance brakes
Front brakes feature four-piston, two-piece aluminium front callipers and 355mm
rotors, pillar-vented for improved cooling and durability.

Forged alloy wheels

So looks like you can FINALLY get a decent factory brake package. Though it looks to be the same as the GXP ala Camaro brembo package.

Hmm, wonder if someone at holden has been reading the camaro brake conversion thread...

Good to know i wont need to worry about engineering my front brake kit upgrade oh and a big **** you to the guys who said it would mess with the ESP.

Fair enough, but don't forget Holden may have tweaked the EBD and ESP settings to suit the larger brakes. They don't just chuck these things on and she'll be right.

It would be nice if Holden let us other VE owners in on this action. Wouldn't mind a set of brakes at a minimum.

But will the Brembo's fit under the factory VE SSV wheels??? (the older VE's that is)

no they dont.

you need hsv style offset rims or some 5mm spacers then they'll fit.

I'm keen to know what there going to put in the boot as a spare though. if they have some cheap steel rims, i'll buy a couple for mine and my bro's car.

I had a chance to sit in and fiddle with a VEII SV6 today and I was impressed... the round vents inside suit it well and the front, well it was already good and they barely did anything to it, so IMO it's no worse, but kinda not that amazing anyway. The rear "diffuser" in the bumper is a nice touch.

Their initial info on the IQ audiovisual system didn't do it much justice... Ipod, USB, AUX, Bluetooth streaming audio and actual CD ripping/storage capability all within a button and a touch. Seems to be one of the highest featured factory AV systems I know of, especially in the base models, and even moreso with Sat Nav connected (a much cheaper option now ~$900.)

The system is fast and responsive, good looking onscreen, and the USB and AUX sockets IN THE CENTRE CONSOLE are a much needed improvement!

And the higher performance redline models - I am genuinely surprised and hugely impressed... I don't care if they're only using up Pontiac parts, that is still some really cool moves from holden, paying attention to the "performance" crowd, which lets be honest are a minority of Holden's income, with a genuine performance upgrade.

The tyre inflator kit is for the Ute only, not even the option to upgrade to full size alloy spare. The rest will get full size alloy spares.

Plenty of room for a 19" spare in a VE, and looks to be clearance for something a bit wider.

The LS9 in a GTS-R was a certainty for a while there too

Holden needs something for the V(F?). At the rate they're going, thinner A-Pillars will be the only exterior change anyway.

The IQ system sounds like a great improvement and that price for factory satnav is excellent.

I have ordered an SSV and have been told to expect delivery mid/late Oct. I was also told it would be in the first batch to hit the dealerships here in Brisbane.

Even if the forum doesn't represent the total market, an internet based group of over 41,000 members has to be an invaluable resource for any manufacturer looking to be innovative and to lead the market. Small things like a glovebox light are easily implemented at little cost. Obviously, things like an LS9 in a $40,000 car are unrealistic.
It was especially brilliant to have folks like Joel Stoddart participate in the forum :goodjob:
