Hi there well firstly put car away Sunday afternoon and left keys in ignition like many times before not on turned off and and just left in it, wife went to take it out in Tuesday and car was dead as a dodo
Got battery recharged and away she went yesterday, no problems only radio doesn't turn off when your parked you have to turn it of manually
Then this morning i go out to shed and car is lit up on radio/centre console and steering wheel lights are on as if headlights were on, but speedo lights and dash are all off
I fire up car to see if she was flat was tough but got it going, i hit the off button on the headlights and dash went out
Something is the wrong any suggestions
Thanks

If it's under warranty go to your dealer, and if not, go and visit an auto electrician.

Sorry man, few bourbons in after nightshift.... But!
Unplug your radio if you can. And see what happens. Both your Parker/ignition circuits meet there.
Do you have any modifications to yor dash? Cat kits, cd player, UhF etc? Anything at all? 9 times out of ten, it's something aftermarket that will mess up your electrics.

i get the no control at all. cant adjust aircon,cd player like it has just gone rebel and wont take any inputs you make to it. couple of wacks on the side on the cd player/air con fascia and it comes good 75% of the time. loose wire in the back there somewhere as you can hear it sparking and get that burning plastic smell. but hey, thats what insurance is for

will call Holden and see what they say tomorrow seems odd, don't have any extras added to it and the car is only 30000 miles old

Might just need a simple PCM/BCM reset. How did you recharge the flat battery ??? (hope you haven't fried anything by recharging incorrectly).

Look it could be a dumb answer, but try the drivers door switch, make certain it has a good earth, I had a problem with a VY radio not turning off and that's all it was. :)

i have the same problem in my car - in mine its definately the drivers door switch.
The radio will stay on when i open the door, but closing it and opening it again will turn it off (sometimes it even dows it the first time).
really should get off my arse and take it to holden.

Well with work and wife home with new bub been a little under the pump, anyway she called Holden yesterday, she is stranded with no car, so i said call Holden and see what they say
Dealership, When car is in garage you have to lock the car up and take keys out cause lights etc will come automatically when dark this will cause battery to go flat, and reckons its been draining for a while
WELL: we have never locked car in garage hence why its in garage why there is other cars behind it and it never goes out much, but when i need to move it never had a problem,
CALLs Holdens roadside assistance, lady is rude and short, cant help you cause car has missed its service window was due 1000 k's ago and you haven't taken it in, and if we came out we would have only got it started for you cant fault find good bye :flipoff:
Reason we have missed service by 1000k's is new bub came SS was pulled out of shed new bubs seats installed and now become daily till my wagon is ready for the kids, 1000k's isn't alot of daily driving in fact 2 weeks cause that's how old bub is
SO - What i am asking now has anyone heard that our VE's and its only VE's that need to be locked when garage when left unattended cause the lights go on and off, what a crock of poo, we called another dealer in Sydney and they thought it was odd but said it may need a computer upgrade
as for recharging as per book disconnected battery and put on bench and used a battery charger like all my other cars wasn't keen on using charge points in engine bay for jumper leads
Thanks

I have always garaged the Maloo and have never locked it when it's been sitting in there. The 1000km over is bullsh1t too. Not being able to get the service 1000km ago should have no bearing on the fact the there's something wrong with your electrical system. Don't put up with that crap.

Thanks Steve
Yes I will calling HOLDEN DIRECTLY on Monday, not happy with attitude and service, as I think and so do others I think they used the fact we don't lock our car as a excuse to cover up a problem tell me do they lock them from new in showrooms etc

GTR,
From what I have been told is that if you leave your vehicle (VE) unlocked after driving somewhere it takes longer for the systems to shutdown and go to sleep mode. If you leave the key in the ingnition the system will stay awake, this can cause the battery to drain. Not sure how long it takes before going flat.
Based on this, if you then get in the car and only drive short distances the battery will not fully recover (fully charge) and eventually it will go flat or cause other issues. I am not sure on the year model of your VE but there have been software updated to rectify the sleep mode to prevent premature battery draining. I know just last week there was a software update for mine which indicated some changes to the sleep mode and system awake times.. I do not have the exact specs.
If you have the original batter in the car from new, chances its only the 450cca battery which is quite small and wont take long for the VE's systems to drain. I upgraded mine to the 600cca battery for more reserve power.
As for the service interval going over by 1000klm, in my experiance that has never been and issue ever in all my years of owing a holden. If it were over by a full or close to service interval (7,0000 to 15,000klm) then it could have negative concequences for your factory warranty. Other than that a typical response from someone working in holden customer care who has a Zero care factor for anyone or anything....
Hope this info is helpful.
Cheers
Phil

Wow Phil thanks for that, will look into it, I know battery would be getting close to its 3rd birthday but car has only been on road 2 years of that and most of all a garage sitter
I know there has been updates so booked in Tuesday lets see what they come back with, I think there playing the wife a little - nothing new - she aint stupid she pulled the battery out and recharged it not me, I knows shes capable cause has done all the work on the 6 restorations over the years, quite funny when dealerships try and take her for a ride so will let her handle it on Tuesday
