I have a VX Berlina 5.7. My boot lid is stuck. I press the button on the remote, i can hear it make the regular noise but it does not open. I cant enter the boot via the rear seat becasue of the LPG gas tank.
I have stuff in there, even the kids toilet seat but i cant get to it.
The car manual doesnt say anything about this sort of problem, any ideas, please....
Thanks

Should be a yellow pull handle just inside the back seat port. Drop the back seat port down, should see the pull handle.

ok saw it, thanks, it was hidden between the gas tank and the back of the seat.
Just another thing, it keeps on getting stuck, is it the boot lock that needs to be changed?. Or should i try to move the latch / hook around?.
Thanks

It's in the owners manual...:hide:
They almost always break the wire rod linking the actuator to the lock mechanism. Occassionally the lock assembly itself fails.

I've also seen problems where the latch moves slightly and jams up the mechanism. You can often determine if this is the case by pressing down on the bootlid while pressing the remote button. A simple realignment might be all it requires.

These will be a release tag, but while it's making that mechanical noise after you press the boot button lift the boot up. All it's doing is unlocking andbtgen locking.

I unscrewed the lock mechanism and you were right, a broken wire rod. Will replace the wire rod. Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

No worries, I am pretty sure I have the same problem.

went to pull the yellow handle behind the back seat to open my boot to fix it and the yellow handle came completely out. fed it back in but stillwont open boot
Now i am stuck. i cant get in b/c of the LPG gas tank, yellow handle broken and i tried to take the back rego plate off tosee if there was an opening there behind the plastic mould, but there wasnt. The red plasic of the rear lights goes behind the rego plate.
How do i open it now, if i take it to the dealer what will they do?. i was thinking of taking the back parcel try out but that may not give me enough access because of the LPG gas tank.
Cant believe his is happening...any ideas anyone

Get some pliers. Grab the wire and pull on it gently. Get someone to lift open the boot at the same time you pull on it. Should work. Same thing happen to mine. Might have to unclip the back seat too for access. Only a few minutes and a socket to remove both the back seat parts.
This is what I do with my boot all the time now.

ok will give it a go tomorrow, but when i originally went to pull the yellow handle, the wire also came out about 30cm. i tried to feed it back it but now it just comes out easily, will try again tomorrow with someone else. If you can think of any other ways to get the boot open. please let me know...thanks again

Sounds like the emergency cable was disconnected from the lock mechanism when you poked around the broken rod perhaps???

Oh dear that's not good. Does it help removing the seat back or Parcel shelf? Isn't there sheet metal behind all these things, unless there is a gap big enough to feed a longish piece of pretty rigid coat hanger type wire through and the hook the solenoid or boot latch etc. Can you get your hands through the rear seat port and remove a rear shelf speaker, then get a wire hook through to the latch. Pretty tall order, good luck.

Hey mate,
Stand at our boot, push the boot release button on the key and as it starts to make the mechanical noise pull up and it should open.

Unfortunately he has confirmed already that the wire rod linking the actuator to the lock mechanism is broken. Doing this wont work, as the actuator isn't physically linked to the lock anymore, hence the noise but no action.

Can you see the lock mechanism with a torch looking in through the seat opening?
If you are handy with a welder, cut the end from a large phillips screwdriver and weld to a long length of steel rod
Make the other end fit to a rachet handle
You then need to undo the lock catch - 2 x phillips from memory
I had to do this recently to open the boot on my drag car

i cant see anything when i put the back seat down as i have the LPG gas tank in the way. I was going to take the parcel shelf off but that will probably be a waste of time as i am sure that there is some sort of metal there. I think my only option is to take the rego plate off, bend the plastic moulding, then cut through the red plastic (part of the tail light section, all one piece). This will be the last resort
Or , place a large blanket on the bumper, then use a crow bar to force it open.
i might also call a dealer to see what they would do...i will try again this arvo to see what other ideas i may come up with.
Will keep you in the loop, but please let me know if you can think of anything
Thanks...

Good luck with this.
I did the same thing recently. The wire rod is an easy fix, the yellow one not so easy.
But with the LPG tank in the way.....ummm? Sorry cant help. MAybe the LPG tank will have to come out?

i have taken the rear seats out again, cant see anythng because of the LPG tank. Cant fit my hands anywhere. Tried forcing the boot with a crow bar,no luck. Only option now seems like going to the dealer see what they can think off, they know the car very well and may know a way to do it.
Apart from that, all i can think of is to remove the rego plate and with a hole saw make a couple of large holes so i can fit my hands through to access the lock. The dealer may choose this option also.
Will let you know what they end up doing.
Thanks

Called up a few dealers, they couldnt help, one suggested they angle grind the boot and replace it with a new boot. Unbelievable. So i called up an auto lock smith. He removed the rear seat, trying to see the boot lock from a few small gaps, but couldnt because of the LPG gas tank. had no luck with the parcel shelf also. He then went for the last option, removed rear rego plate and with a hole saw drilled a hole behind the rego plate. It was about 4 cm in diameter. Went through 3 layers of plastic, then1 layer of metal. Where he drilled it was perfect. Once the plastic and metal came out you could see the lever to the lock mechanism. lifted the lever with a small screwdriver and PRONTo, it opened up. The rod to open the boot had snapped whilst the rod to the emergency level had disconnected itself from the lever....Just got a piece of tape to block the hole behind the rego, and put the rego plate back on, you woouldnt even know its there. f it happens again I can take the rego plate off and the tape and open the boot. if this happens to anyone else, when drilling be mindful that when you have drilled through the metal, that you stop and take a look. Dont keep on drilling incase you then hit the lock..

All this would have been avoided if Holden fitted a key lock to the rear boot.
I feel your pain.
