I've got a new computer and i keep on getting "unable to resolve server". Why would that be?

Does it have Windows XP?

If it does most likely your problem is XP has an inbuilt firewall to turn this off

Right Click on internet explorer go properites or options
then go connections then click setting then go to properties then go to advanced then untick then box that says firewall

Hope That Helped:thumbsup:

There's not a long that can go wrong with a MIRC install.

I called up the MIRC help & got the following :

An Invalid or Non-working IRC Server address....
You might be trying to connect to an IRC Server that is currently not working, or perhaps is an old address and doesn't exist anymore. You should try another IRC Server.

Which server are you trying to connect to?

Have you tried another server?

Let us know if this helps.

I got the same error message with the Perth server.

My IRC automatically defaulted to the Sydney server which connected fine.

Try the Sydney server & see if it works.

When i go to choose a server the Perth one is the only OzOrg option it gives me.

Maybe i should delete MIRC and downlod it again?

I've got the IRC Network set to ALL.

this wont remedy the problem but open your mirc and copy paste this ' /server aussie.sydney.oz.org ' without the '

you can also manually add that server to the list using the 'add' button on the select name server etc window :)

Hope it helps

Sometimes when IRCd's update there IP it takes a while for your ISP to update there DNS.
If you know the IP address of the server you can connect directly to it ( /server <IP#> )

oz.org closed a lot of there servers and renamed others

irc.oz.org seems to always work

others inc

au.oz.org
aussie.oz.org - Overseas clients can only connect to this server at this time.
irc.oz.org
state.oz.org
where state is the shortened form of your state name
ie: vic, nsw, qld, wa, sa, tas, nt, act
capitalcity.oz.org
You guessed it! The name of your state's capital city
eg: sydney.oz.org
