Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting an OTR for my VZ SS ute, just wondering what brand etc people can suggest? are there problems rubbing on the bonnet etc.

I'm currently steering towards a VCM Suite Alloy OTR, any suggestions would be appreciated =]

Cheers

I think it depends what sort of setup you want, like if you want a cam in the future + more power etc, i think you need to go a mafless setup with an otr, but side by side a growler intake and maf tune and an mafless otr tune without other mods would be about the same performance wise, but pricewise the maf and growler would be the cheaper option. I could be wrong but thats what i've got from reading on forums.

Yep - go with the DUS - you will not regret it

The only way you will have a problem is if there is installer error - overtightening clamps etc

If you are in canberra, I would suggest coming up to sydney one day and getting it directly from Dus - he will install it, and show you how to do it perfectly - and you will have a good old chat with a good bloke!

There are several hundred DUS OTRs around, and I haven't heard ANY negative feedback from genuine customers - do it mate!

Thanks mate, $745? from memory which most people this is a bit pricey BUT as you say, it doesnt look half bad AND its a good quality bit of kit. I would buy one again in a heart beat bud.

Another vote for the DUS. Had mine over a year now with the occasional track day. Good looks and performance to match. :)

Ziggy OTR .
May not be the best looking otr on the market but...

Great performance results for a great price.

$1600 for the mafless tune and DUS OTR and added 40rwkw and a bucket load of torque.

It's all in the tune.

any otrcai will do the trick, as long as its not the cheap plastic ones that collapse on WOT

i havnt really seen a difference in power between brands, if there is, its so small its not worth worring about

any of the name brands are equally good its all in the tune that you will pick up maximum gains

i have used the cheap fiberglass ones of ebay, a plastic capa one, and a alloy one, all three different designs, power difference between them = 0

i think it comes down to what looks the best

which intake has the best induction sound on the market ? i have a OTR and has very noticeable sucking sound at first startups but quiet when driving

any decent OTR (not ebay cheap shit) will do the job. i got my GMM Plastic OTR (the older PT style) cos it was cheap combined with a mafless tune. Really couldn't justify 600-700 bucks on an OTR when this one performs the same. If its a show car a nice polish alloy one or nicely painted DUS would be the go, for all others what ever you can get for a good price. DUS, ZIGGY, GMM RAMJET, VCM Alloy, they will all work.

Yeahh thanks for your "opionions" guys haha. When i said "best OTR" i meant functionality wise, looks and not rubbing on the bonnet etc. Some of those duspeeds look awesome, ill probably end up investing in one of those unless i find a decent good second hand one for sale on here or something.

That was my opinion too until a few days ago when I upgraded from DUS Mk 1 OTR on my VE to DUS Mk 2. Back to back dyno runs - car was run with original DUS and had a best of 277.8rwkw, the highest it had ever done (was 275.9 after LS7 cam install). Changed OTRs, did nothing else and ran again - results below. :woohoo:

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o274/gcovo/SSV%20Ute/DUSOTRcomparison.jpg

Nice increase in torque too! :yup: Now, I must point out here that graph is a little misleading. Why? Because with bonnet up we got 281.9, so a gain of just over 4kw. :goodjob: Then as a matter of interest Chev decided to try with the bonnet down and we then got the 283.6. Of course at 8pm we weren't about to put the original OTR back on for a comparative bonnet down run.

sorry guys a bit of a thread dig.

Im shopping for an alloy otr. came accross the following which kind of look like the marranos and ziggy otrs though fabbed by some other guys. anyone use these before?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/COMMODORE-ALLOY-OTR-LS1-HSV-GTS-LS2-MONARO-CV8-GTO-/220715770813?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3363af63bd#ht_500wt_922

cheers,
