Hi All
I have an annoying squeal/squeaking coming from my aircon belt on the aircon pulley (at my best guess).
Upon investigating I noticed the harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley has a slight buckle to it as well.
I have sprayed plenty of CRC down there but the squeak wont go away. It's at its worst when the belts are cold (first 10 mins of driving).
Has anybody else experienced this on a LS2, if so how did you fix it?
Cheers

I had this on my L98. Might of lasted a week or so and then ended up shredding the main belt on my way home the day before it was due to go to holden.
Mine ended up being a misaligned balancer pulley as it sounds like you have described as well.

Yep, had the same thing on my L98... Just after it came back from Holden for a replacement steering rack...
I thought it was a water pump fail - looked all over and saw the harmonic balancer wobbling like a drunk..
Straight back to holden, and it was replaced the next day, under warranty.
Mine was squealing that loud it was embarrassing to drive around in..

Excuse my ignorance, but how does a harmonic balancer become misaligned or wobbly?
I have never experienced it with my previous rides (all LS1's).

Balancers are two metal cylinders glued together with rubber. Standard balancers are junk and fail internally at the rubber joint.
Don't wait for it to fail or it will cost $big. If there is even a slight hint of a wobble or noise from the balancer then insist they change it on warranty. Better still, bite the bullet and supply the aftermarket 25% underdriven pulley kit anyway and see if they'll supply the labour to fit it under warranty - you won't regret it.
While you're down there, there is a cheap fix from Holden to stop the air con belts from throwing - part No. 92244378 for L98 (Don't know if it the same for the GTS?). It turns a kidney shaped belt path into a figure 8 path by adding an extra idler pulley.

For the 25% underdirven Pulley kit, wouldn’t this run everything (air con, pwr steering, alternator etc) slower at idle?
Probably suitable at for lots of running at high revs, but would there be any problems for a daily driver?

I was concerned about that before I put mine on too given all the battery issues that the VE suffers, but no problems so far and it has been on for several months now. Plenty of people run them.
The power gain at higher revs comes from not spinning the ancilliaries so fast.

I was told today that you can no longer purchase the genuine holden air con belt as a part anymore. Instead i have to buy a modified bracket and rolla which needs a longer belt.
Seems like an overkill/big job to get rid of the squeel. Has anyone else had to replace their aircon belt recently?
