HRT:
STEWARDS:

what a bloody joke hand a black flag out to car 2 for fluid leaking and it was leaking something at that time, then moments later takes his whole right hand front off only to have the flag removed,HOW THE #$%^does that work, then to watch the parts just flap and fall off collecting the guys behind what a joke,HRT must have deep pockets, were now paying off stewards....

And before you start look back to what Dane said he had a defuser issue that got them a black flag and it fell off but still RULES R RULES yet at Indy we throw them out the window, and what about that start typical KART SERIES start where you take out half the field before turn 1.

bring on tomorrow :smilesandbanana:

Well done to the stewards once again
championship leader
race leader

and after a few laps and making a gap you penalise a guy for something that happened a few times at Bathurst this is gunna be talked about for a while
180 point lead cut to 90 i bet T888 and HRT are smiling, this kinda of crap ruins championships.

This Race Is A Joke!

WHAT A JOKE ! , one of the biggest international coverage races and this is what happens , since when could a black flag be with drawn , I've been into racing of all types of motor sport competing and enjoying for 30 years and never has this happened that I have ever seen. Courtney was robbed of a great race win , I'm Holden through and through but he deserved that win and HRT should of had a drive through for the jump start not the 10 sec penalty so they could get the gap effectively having no penalty at all, then having the car fall apart and leak fluid every where doesn't matter what it is allowed to continue is biggest farce ever in motor racing.

This was the chance for V8's to show what a great category it can be, but now it just looks like a bunch of amateurs running a billy cart race , V8 supercars is over this is the first nail in the coffin I feel. :flamin:

Looking at the replays Courtney and Tander were braking and accelerating up the back of the course before the restart but tander might of done it due to courtneys actions but this wasnt at the restart and it didnt effect the race restart or tander as they went across the line nose to tail.

its still a joke i know rules are rules but someones painted a target on DJR and then gave Get out of jail free cards to HRT,not the finish that was deserving of such a great event, puts a huge dampener on the event, thank god i didnt waste my money and attend just to see that happen.

Guys we are only on Lap 20 in Wait Awhile so I'm sure I will see what the issue is soonish.
I think the 10 sec penalty is std for Surfers for jumping the start. Not sure why though.

ok just seen it... I think it was withdrawn as race control thought it was a fuel leak however it was water. No different to some cars who have had water going on to their brakes leaking. Never been a problem.

I think GT should've been given a black flag for the bodywork only. The fact he was going to be given a black flag for what was thought to be leaking fuel is just b.s just as it was last year when Rick Kelly got a similar penalty. Only this time it was just water, so that probably explains why it was revoked.

I would've been fuming it GT got a drive through for something like leaking water. The penalty at the start was more than sufficient. A drive through for moving a couple of millimeters again would've made my blood boil. Plenty of drivers have jumped the line over the years without getting drive throughs. Why should it have been any different today?

On JC's penalty I thought it was quite harsh to be honest, but I'm quite surprised nothing was done about the obvious boxing in SJ, and JC applied to GT for a good few laps. SJ was blocking GT to allow JC to close in. It was as obvious a sore thumb.

The truth is there was alot of crappy decisions made. GT's one will stick out the most, because it's HRT, and HRT are always seen as the antichrist. It's simple.

Once a decision is made like a black flag you must excercise it and they allowed X amount of laps to do so before disqualifying you

so once its made the powers to be go oops we got it wrong lets now change our minds, well sorry but Dane is correct and has every right to blow up you cant just make rules for one team and then the rest of the paddock

so as for damage on tanders car that's a blatant black flag every day of the week a headlight was flapping about dangerously it did infact come out and poor Lowndes copped it in the front bar LUCKILY not damaging his front bar enough to cause the results to change,so imho they waited far too long to take a look at it and when they did the damage had been rectified, how convenient was that.

Courtney was the best of the field and HRT got a win handed to them DJR have every right to feel dirty and robbed,HRT has the holden gods watching over them today lets see how they fair tom'w and what the weather brings.

As for the BOX IN,it was pretty obvious wasnt it but hey SJ 90% of the lap was infront comfortably of Tander but yes back markers were a issue today.

bring on race 2 and some Karma :)

That's not what I'm talking about though. I think it was stupid how the black flag was revoked, but the beef I have is why was it given to something so harmless like leaking fluid, but not the obvious bodywork? I'm not trying to say HRT shouldn't have been penalized, but it's what they were going to be penalized for.

As for HRT being handed a win..you say that like they didn't have a chance. Up until the last 30 odd laps GT was definitely the man to beat. JC didn't become a factor until late in the race.

Despite not being happy with the circumstances as far as I'm concerned GT done nothing wrong, and the stewards will be known for tarnishing his win. Hopefully he can win again tomorrow without the controversy of today's race.

Go GT, and HRT.

The reason why the black flag was revoked was because the stewards got it wrong. They thought it was fuel and not water. Very different to what happened to Wincup where the flag was shown for the bodywork and even though it had fallen off the penalty had to be served.
I do however agree that a black flag should have been given to Garth for the bodywork. I'll still take the win though.
I'm sitting on the fence as far as the Smashney penalty. It was clear why it was given however I am not sure if the punishment fit the crime.

I agree about Courtney's penalty. I think it was deserved, but the punishment was harsh. At the very worst I think he should've had a few points taken away, but not the drive through he got.

Lets see what wonderful decisions will be made tomorrow. Maybe drivers will start getting into shit for their cool suits failing? I wouldn't put it passed VESA.

Go GT, and HRT.Exactly how i see it it wasnt Tanders fault he just drives the car,i totally blame the stewards they made the calls

the liquid spill should of been looked at better before passing the judgement

penalties all year havent been revoked so why start now i think thats what grinds everyones gears the most

what i meant by handed was the stewards not so much HRT or Tander

VESA and V8SC are the ones who are at fault i just hope tomorrows race goes smoother then todays.

Carby650: when they read the rules out and i saw the footage i was like Ohhhhhh sugar he could be guilty of a rule breach but like you said the penalty didnt fit the crime they got a clean start and noone was impeded so play on and continue the race not penalise the bloke laps later and at 99% of the race thats just BS.

tomorrow looks promising though

Oh I see what you mean mate. Yeah I really hope the race is cleaner tomorrow.

I bet Tander's spewing he didn't win Bathurst, because he's halfway winning the GC600, and as most of us know he had to win Clipsal, Bathurst, GC600, and the Telstra 500 to win $2,000,000.

Tomorrow is a new day. Lets start fresh.

Shane was also in front going into the chicane.

Exhibit B:

JW should have, in line with the rules, yielded position going in to the chicane. Any professional driver would know that if you're on the outside of the chicane you should pull back and file in behind.

I think overall this event was extremely costly, and I would imagine most teams wont be looking forward to it next year. A good concept adding international drivers, but I think this would be better for somewhere like Sandown. All the accidents put a damper on the weekend.

Anyway part of me wanted to see the Giz win even though he drives a Ford. Whincup done a great job to handle the pressure, but I agree he should have backed off as Shane had track position. It wont be long before he gets his first win.

I would love to see him in a Holden one day though.

I would love to see him in a Holden one day though.what a crappy way to end the race,he was too busy watching the pit lane car locking up into the turn and not watching his own line and there is where it became inevitable, anyways Whincup did well to hold the giz off that was the most pressure i seen a ford put on a holden since skaife and ambrose days still wasnt happy how J.W pushed his way thru on courtney or the fact the end result is yet again under scrutiny

I reckon most the Internationals needed much more practice, but in saying that look at the end results alot of them did get used to the cars the longer they were in them,J.V kept it straight in race 2 and Dumbrell bought it home 5th what a great result.

I dont know what the No7 car and No8 car were doing but that was down right dangerous, and what the hell happened with Steven johnson and Rick kelly he clearly punted No17 who then took out No47 and the award for the biggest stuff ups in history goes to FPR bringing both cars in and the driver of No5 wasnt even ready and put 1,2 back to the end of the pack,if thats fords best well their doomed.

Yeah it was a huge hit, but I'm glad he's alright. There's always next time. I was very pleased with both Tander, and McConville over the whole weekend. A few clouds over their heads (so to speak), but I was quite happy with the way they drove. Hell even Davo got a reasonably decent result considering the year he's had.

I'm looking forward to the rest of the year, because typically from this point Tander really comes alive. He obviously wont win the championship, but I'm confident he'll get a few more victories before the year's out, and hopefully there wont be any controversy this time around.

Shane was technically leading the race because he crossed the line in front of JW. Not really. Shane was only in the lead because Whincup reduced his speed enough to make the chicane, the only reason the gis edged slightly ahead was because he carried too much speed, over ran and couldn't make the turn. Whincup had no where to go after gis ran straight ahead so had to go with him. Also the only reason the gis was so far alongside was due to the love taps he gave Whincup through the last corner. If you are going to classify the love taps as racing incident then you need to classify them going straight on at the chicane a racing incident too. It was a class drive by both of them.

driving down the middle, obviously slower the Giz had nothing to do with them taps did it,like i said it's common sense that you cannot run the outside into turn one whincup tried cause afterall his fighting for a win and the championship and mate JW was tapn into V.G door that why giz didnt make the corner the picture shows VG turns in and JW pounding the door, could argue about this all night but who had the racing line?

The contact at the final corner slid the rear end of Whincup's car wide and hampered his exit speed. Gis got the run due to it and pulled alongside, common sense. Look at the previous 20 laps and tell me another reason for it. If you had argued regarding the technicalities of the chicane, there would have been a little bit of merit. Arguing that the love taps weren't the reason gis got alongside has none. Oh the tap at turn in did not hamper Gis attempting a turn in the opposite direction, he simply ran too deep. End of story! The technicalities of both of them straight lining the chicane was the only doubt, and ruled as a racing incident just like the taps on Whincup. Fair enough.

Im with Hazza on this. To me it looked like SVG didnt even attempt to turn in. Racing incident.

Hoon, you need to look at the video again.

YouTube - 2010 V8Supercars Gold Coast 600 at Surfers Paradise Final Lap Close Finish

The was no way Shane was going to make the corner at that speed on that racing line. The tap into the door by JW had nothing to do with it. Have a look at Winterbottom behind, he shows you the racing line for that corner at that speed and he was following JW. Shane had track position but not the racing line whereas JW had the opposite with the racing line but not track position. Shane had to brake earlier than JW if he was going to make that corner. Have a listen to the radios after the race finish. You hear Shane apologising to the team for not being able to pull it up at the chicane, otherwise he would have had to give the corner up.

JW sucked him into a late brake and got away with it because Shane couldn't make the corner.

Cheers.

after the debacle of saturday , I thought the racing was good and that there was no interference from officails . the hit between courtney and whincup was good to see re addressed on the track , and the last laps with the rear hits and taps on the qtr pnls from van gis on whincup, then that chicane incident that was left alone to sort out on track was great , I bet both drivers loved it and had a great talk about it tonight , thats what you start racing for in the 1st place , bit rubbing and bumping and a good laugh at the end .

I was there for the Sunday race sitting in the grandstand and I for one reckon that was as good if not better than any Indy I'd been to and I've been to 4 of them. Even with the damage received to all the cars, I'm lead to believe from a very close source inside V8SCA that the teams loved it too..Can't wait for next year..
