Hi all I did a search to try and see if others have had issues but did not come up with any results..
I own a 2007 VE SSV Ute and I have had my leather seat covers already replaced once due to stitching releasing and the seats loosing there form - now about a year down the track once again the seats are doing the same thing =[
Holden have said they are not yet bad enough come back and see them when the are worse...
My question is have others experienced the same issue with there leather seats?? If so did they find a good resolution?
Cheers,
Costley

No problems with mine so far.... not being smart... but what do you weigh?
Maybe putting too much strain on the stitching if it has happened again??

Not saying so in this case, but from our experience, some people seem to have no issues with any interior trim, yet others seem to need multiple seat trims, multiple drivers floor mats, multiple leather steering wheels etc.
One does wonder why some are so "unlucky"...

Funny you say that - I have had 3 steering wheels :P But its the part that doesn't get handled on top of the horn/airbag that comes loose - had current one for a long time no problems... I know at least 5 people who experienced the same issues..
My friends dad has a calais and it is starting to have the same problem - but he isnt too fused - I think the amount of complaints maybe different to customer, with mine be a show car I will be picker than most - as I have complained the second time around when the issue isnt as bad as last time - but I just dont see why I should wait till its worse before they will fix - seems odd they accept there is an issue, but say its not bad enough to fix yet...

Holden HQ wont approve claims for trim that "might" fail in the future. Some ageing symptoms can be expected with most cars, so it has to genuinely be seen to be separating through "reasonable" use before anything will happen.

Yes that makes sense mate I see it at there end - I would say if the seats when replaced were 10/10 bad then atm they are 4/10. I just raised the issue as I dont want them to end up bad like the others with no warranty...
I have heard that the stitching isn't UV rated and the sun can affect it - as alot of tonneu covers have had this issue... And it was said the seats where the same - but I have only heard rumors, and I am more trying to chase facts..

Just tell me that you didn't hear this on that great wealth of knowledge and truth, the world of internet forums...
Just check you have it written on a recent copy of a repair order.

It really shouldn't have anything to do with weight:)
More to the point it will mainly to do with the way the stitching has been done ie when they are stitched it has taken to much of a bite( not closer enough to the edge of the material) which will cause it to fail as it makes it to tight and when you sit it create to much tension on the stitching causing separation

My 09.5 SSV Sportwagon's driver's seat is losing it's form at the rear of the seat cushion, near where the back rest joins. It's going in for it's 30k service on Monday, and this will be one of the issues highlighted.
I can actually feel the seat padding has sagged compared to the obviously still 'as new' passenger side.
And I'm less than 80kgs in weight before you start passing judgement !!

Mine as well. Also, let me know the verdict, as my ute has only done 7k only.

I have no problems with my Monaro in regard to the driver's side seat, as this would be the mostly used seat of the car. However, with my ute, there is sag.
People do tend to compare quality issues with similar products, and in this case, leather seats made by the same manufacturer. Have been very happy with the Monaro interior, but starting to wonder about the VE quality of the driver's side of the ute that has only done 7,000 k's.

With that attitude I suggest you give up on cars and start riding pushbikes.
All makers are pretty much the same when it comes to warranty, but if you take various internet forum posts (sook sessions) as gospel your judgement will forever be clouded my friend... :teach:

OK, so the driver's seat was deemed 'within tolerances' by comparing it to another similar car (another 18 month old car with sagging seat ?) I'll be pursuing this again, don't worry.
The demister trim lifting at base of windscreen and the rear floor carpet which is all rippled are being fixed up next week under warranty however. Apparently a layer of foam is applied under the carpet and when re fitted, it pads things out a bit and stops the baggy appearance.
When it goes back in on the 8th, I'll get them to investigate the clonking noise that just starter from the wiper mechanism
Am I being too picky ? Am I expecting Germanic / Jap build quality ? Well, maybe I am because even though it is "just a Holden", it is an expensive car and I think it should be in 100% perfect condition at only 18 months old.

Waaranty isn't so much about returing a car to brand new condition. It is more about returning a car to a condition consistent with it's age. Hence, the reason trim related issues aren't always covered to the brand new car standard some expect.
Now, where else have we heard about returning cars to a condition consistent with it's age, rather than brand new condition?
Insurance and smash repairs, of course. Unknown to many, most fairly modern (smashed) cars over 12 months of age are repaired using a high percentage of second hand parts.

ide like to know where holden spent the billion dollars on the ve??? not that im bagging the ve as i have one and will buy another holden after this, but there quality just needs to be lifted, people think your being to fussy when you go in the dealership and complain bout this and that and the service manager tells me oh its just a work ute? up yours buddy next time i go to buy one ill be paying the same price for a ssv as a colorado flat tray then, they wanna be your best freind when selling them, then when u have a problem dont want to help and keep floggin u off till its out of warranty, ford done that to me with my xr6t and wont have to worry again cause i wont have another, my demister trim is lifting too, as for my seats they r fine atm, but the leather on my gear knob was coming all unstiched dealer wouldnt do anything so i got a lighter and heated the stiching and fixed it, its fine now

Every brand has horror stories. Look at that bastion of reliability, Toyota.
One billion is nothing for an all new car these days. Cruze cost around 4 times that.
Much of the billion went into manufacturing upgrades rather than product development.

OK, so the car is having a two day holiday at the main dealer for the clonky wiper mechanism, warped windscreen demister trim and the replacement of the whole interior carpet - all under warranty of course. Service Manager rang me to say that they'd tried putting the layer of foam under the carpet to pad it out and straighten it up, but it wasn't perfect compared to a new car, so they've ordered a new carpet and will fit it tomorrow.
Bit peeved that I'm having these little issues, but cannot fault the main dealer for their service or attentiveness.
Cheers.

I wonder if certain leather conditioner/cleaning products or cleaning methods can have detrimental effects on the stitching over time. Or the lack of using maintenance products.
