Hi,
Well it's finally come to the day when I would like to upgrade to a newer car and sell my much loved Monaro CV8 II. :bawl:
I visited Suttons Rosebury the other day and had a look at the Clubsport E2 and E3. Price is a little steeper for the new one but thinking it's got to be an E3 since i can lease it through the business (and use the tax right off for the business) - its got some nice differences between the E2 and E3 from what I could see.
Also had a look at the GTS - although the front end possibly looks too over the top for my liking.
Test drive with all of them on Wednesday
So - questions.
GTS E2 OR Clubsport R8 E3 OR ClubSport R8 E2?
How much should I be quoted for an E3 and E2 (Auto) - drive away no more to pay type deals (on the internet most are POA)?
What other options should I 'negotiate' for and what else should I ask for with the prices given?
Any other things I should bargain for / go for?
Also - going back to the Monaro - what's the best asking price do you think? It's a Black Monaro CV8 II with 61k - all stock, fully serviced, Premium unleaded only, garaged.
I hate to let it go (would love to put it in storage and bring it out in 10 years!) but need the cash for the missus car (thinking a compact SUV).
I've had some great advice on this forum regarding these matters so thanks in advance....:)

With such little kilometers I would think you'd be somewhere between 25 and 30 grand if you can wait for the right buyer and sell it privately.
Otherwise I think you're going to get some pretty stupid trade in price, definitely try to work them on that.
Personally I'd go for the E3 Clubbie unless you can get a really good deal on the E2, in terms of prices I have no idea sorry!

Does anyone know what the Recommended price list - Holden says it's taken the prices off the website and you now need to ask a dealer - hummm

Hi,
It's got 61000 on the clock.
I've not got recent ones - photos from about 3 years ago can be viewed here:

The spoiler has gone now, the lights have changed and it's got a Alpine LCD screen head unit.
It's going in for a service on Friday and i'm getting the mags cleaned up and some light detailing to make it look shiny.
Sell your car privately. The dealer will screw you on trade in then use the fact you traded in to not move much on the asking price.
If you walk in with no trade in chasing a driveaway price with no finance (get the lease yourself through a broker, don't use theirs) you will always be able to screw them down a lot further.
Get on carsales and find the dealer with the cheapest driveaway price on the car you want. This best price might be in a different state to you, this doesn't matter. Try ringing a few that have POA displayed and ask them for their no-nonsense driveaway price. Write that down and compare to the others that are listed. Generally the cheaper dealers are the ones that display their prices tho.
Use the absolute best price you can find minus 5 grand as your aim. That is what you should be looking to pay. Don't listen to any rubbish about them not having much mark up or that they are already cutting you a skinny deal. It's bullsh*t. If they can't give you the price you want, go to another dealer and make sure they are aware you are looking around. Some dealers will move on price A LOT more than others. They must get different prices from holden/HSV dependant on how many they sell which would explain the sometimes massive differences in price on identical cars and it is probably also why Holden won't display prices on the net. Because some dealers want to charge more than a set price from Holden/HSV.
I have used this method before and it worked like a charm. I bought a VZ maloo brand new (not a demo or anything like that) for $7000 less than the dealers closest to me would let one go for. It took a bit of running around between dealers but $7000 I'm sure you'll agree is a lot of money and far better in your pocket than theirs.
Let us know how you go.

I wouldnt imagine E3s being given much discount if any at the moment. Might pay to wait a couple of months to see what deals you can get, otherwise hammer them and play the game with a few dealers for a good priced E2. After seeing the E3 revised wing & dash updates personally I would go the E2 and stick an E1 fron bar on it

Put your car up here in classifieds, a black monaro with only 61k should sell.
Trade ins are so poor keep away, when i bought my first VE i saved $5000 with just a few phone calls. Get the dealers competing against each other:)

Also one other thing to do is try go in during the last few days of a month and tell them if you get the right deal you will sign on that day. For them it counts as a sale for that month if you sign, so if they need more numbers for the month the will probably be more willing to shift it than if the month has just started.

I looked for ages for a decent relatively low km M6 Monaro in black or silver for my daughter for over 6 months about 18 months ago but nothing came up at a reasonable price. However, I tracked prices over that period in a spreadsheet (which I've probably still got somewhere) and noticed that even though very few sold people were not reducing their prices. :weirdo: Almost as if they were saying I'm not desperate to sell so if it doesn't sell for $x I'll just keep it............
Unfortunately one small thing against yours is it's auto. Manuals command much better prices.

Just to give you an idea, I sold my CV8 series III auto a few months ago. Mine had all the usual mods, lowered, 19's, full exh, tune, otr, diff gears, stereo and only 27000 k's. Now all that appeals to some but obviuosly not those looking for an original unit. Not sure how NSW prices compare to QLD, fairly similar I'd imagine, but I ended up getting $34k for it, not what I was asking but a fair and reasonable price I thought. You can use carsales.com as a guide to see what the going rate is but if it's anything like when I was selling mine, there's quite a big price range out there between the cheaper ones and the ones that think they are sitting on a gold mine. Just pick the price thats fair and that your willing to let it go for and you can't go wrong..Just my opinion anyway.
Cheers

I thought GTS was low 80s plus on roads????
Edit: Just checked Carsales - quite a few E3 GTSs on there for under 90k. Only one in the the high 90s has 6 piston brakes optioned.
