Do anyone know of front runners and tyres that are at least 17 inches, I can't get the 15s on my car as the vz monaro has bigger front brakes, and are the space saver rim allowed to be used with a front runner tyre, does anyone make one?

M and H make a 17inch front runner tyre as for rims just find a 17ich wheel you like and have it cut to 17*4 this is the cheapest option trust me

Space saver definitely a no-go. Pretty sure it's even in the ANDRA rule book now too (don't have mine on me to clarify)

if you can get them for a good price grab them although with the dollar the way it is they should be fairly cheap at present

Pretty sure ANDRA banned the space saver wheel itself, claiming the wheel wasn't rated above 80km/h, like the tyre.
Alumastar's are the go, but they're not cheap by anymeans :(
Otherwise try the Racestar's at about half the price. VPW has them but with the AUD the way it is, SpeedInc, Jegs, Summit etc probably have a better deal

safety aspect side of it's all bullshit. it's purely $$$ motivated as to why andra stopped the space saver rims. look at the sponsors in the book for starters (vpw, rocket etc)
i drove over 1200km's on the ve space saver rim at 120kph and im still alive.
Last time i checked Andra wasnt a rim / destruction tester. i would put money on it, hell even my life that a steel 15x4 rim would be stronger than an allluminium rim of the same dimensions.
my old man's ute runs 15x4 interceptors on the front on his ute for his slicks.

I believe they mean the 17 x 4" Alloy space savers like those in Monaro's etc not steelies.

yeah, but same deal through really.
there would be alot more structural integrity in the larger rim than you would ever get in the lightweight alloy rims.

eah but Andra don't mind you using steel rims they just won't allow the Holden space saver "alloy" because even Holden won't recommend them for over 80kph.
Most of us know the real reason they are only rated at 80kph is that they are so skinny and Holden don't want people having crashes at 80+ then saying it was the fault of the skinny spare wheel/tyre.
My senator has a so called space saver,a VY2 Clubby wheel 18x8" painted yellow and fitted with a W rated 215 Pirelli tyre and a big 80KPH sticker on it.
And we all know that VY2 clubby wheels are rated to 260+ with the right tyre yet just because it has a smaller tyre than on the car (245/35x19) it is automatically rated at 80kph.

yeah thats why my point is it's the tyre that's rated to 80kph. not the rim.
Andra banned the rims them selves.

I agree, I can't see how my Weld Prostars which are an incorrect stud pattern (HQ/Chev) are safer than 15x4 space-savers which are the correct stud pattern...
