As per title could anyone 100% confirm that the Redline package will or won't fit behind Series 1 SSV 19' rims.

Got a price of $2,300 for front & rear rotors, Obviously front calipers & front & rear pads today, but spare parts guy said he is fairly certain they wont fit my rims. Said something about the offset of the hub.

Got a price from Harrop & they start @ about $4,000.

Hmm, thought redline was only a front brake upgrade, you learn something every day...

The brembo's will fit...but you'll need to run a 2mm spacer(5mm to be safe), a few of the guys on the G8 forums have done it.

So did I, but the parts guy said it was rear rotors & pads also, He said I used my existing rear calipers, not sure how that works.

Okay, thanks for that. I am not real keen on running spacers. But just out of interest how do they get fitted, To the hub ?

so they run different offset rims then?

yeah, they'd have to.

the offsets are the same as hsv brakes.

to the op. save your cash. buy the calipers from the USA and get the dba4000 rotors from dba locally for $160each.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the specific differences between what's on your SS-V now and the Redline package you're looking at. There are no actual details on Holden's website re rotor diametres and so forth. What do you actually get for your $2,300? If you're looking at the Harrop premium brake package? Wouldn't it be a better option with its 4-piston calipers both front and rear and bigger rotors? Albeit for quite a bit of extra money, but I suppose you'd have to consider the actual performance of both options against their respective costs. FYI, I upgraded from the standard brake package on my VX SS to the VX GTS set up and there's a big difference between the two.

My standard fronts are 321mm rotors with twin pot piston, Redline is 355mm four pot piston.

My standard rear are 324mm with single piston & according to the guy @ holden I retain the caliper but use a bigger rotor & a diff pad.

That would be worth looking at, provided you can use your current (SSV?) rims. If you could get your hands on a Redline rim, a dealer might have one on display somewhere, you could measure its offset and check it against the offset on you rims. Then you'll know for sure but where to get your hands on the Redline rim?

Well actually my brother-inlaw works @ my local dealer & they have 1 Redline Calais in stock & was suppose to bring the car around yesterday to try my wheel.

But he is very unreliable & didn't get here, but I have been speaking to some more ppl & it is looking like I will need a 5mm spacer if I want to run the Redline under my wheels.

Just spoke to the local & probably the best front end guy in town who is real good at what he does & I have known him for a long time about spacing the wheels.

He said it is no big deal & we can fix the spacer to the hub coz I dont want them coming off or just floating when the wheels are taken off for rotation & cleaning etc.

Just need to find someone to make or find out where I can buy them.

i would like to do this brake upgrade, but apparently they wont fit with 20inch supersports.

should have done some more homework ,who would have thought "HSVi" branded product would be in no way compatible with a HSV brake set up or any improved brake set up for that matter

I'm in the same boat as you mate Brembo won't clear falcon 19's

The only thing with spacers is it's a void in insurance

If you want to be on the safe side get yourself some 15 or 20mm bolt on spacers made. They are hub centric and you shouldnt have any dramas if you torque the bolts upto the factory recommendation. I ran proper bolt on spacers on my last car without issues for years. Plus the extra stance youre car will have will be quite noticeable and very sexy indeed :)

99% sure Johnny(Black Diamond on here) who owns Protek tyre's in Oakleigh, has spacers in stock but best to give the shop a call or even try Harrop.

I actually spoke to Rob today about the extra stance it will have & discussed using some countersink bolts & fix them to the hub or I think he said maybe some urothene, not sure on spelling of that.

Autobarn have aluminium spacers from about 2mm to 8mm, unsure on them though.

AS long as its a "legal" fitment there wont be any problems. Insurance companies only go off legalities when assessing any modification, some wont cover certain mods due to there guidelines.

If Vicroads say its ok to run spacers then no problems, happy motoring. :goodjob:
