Hello all this is my first post, Just very curious to find out which is lighter and quicker a VE SS manual Sedan or the ute, because 2 of my mates one owning a ve ss ute and the other a ve ss sedan both stock and both manuals from stand still the sedan always wins, ive done some research and looked at alot of reviews and most of them say the manual ve ss sedan is slightly quicker 0-100. I would of thought the ute would be quicker??
Just after some info on this, cheers

I believe the Sedan gets better traction at the rear wheels. More weight over the tyres.
The difference would be only marginal however.

maybe the extra weight on the rear wheels in the sedan means more traction and hence quicker acceleration? I've noticed in my ute the rear is skittish. If i'm say in 3rd @ 80kph and floor it, the back will bounce around a bit (axle tramp?), which can't be good for acceleration times

Also not necessarily is the manual quicker! depends upon the vehicle/driver.
You'll find a manual Ute cheaper to buy new than manual sedan though.

The wagon is ment to the quickest around a track than the sedan even though it weighs about a 100kg's more as the weight is proportioned better.

DCV1NU has recently swapped his full 3" DF system to a full 3" KPM SLC system in his A6 SSV and couldn't be happier. I'm sure he'd be happy to demonstrate it to you. I had one on my sedan before the ute and have one on the ute but it's an older pre SLC system. Except for a nice background V8 rumble it's dead quiet at 100kmh even with upgrade from 2.92 to 3.45 diff gears meaning about 1830rpm at 100kmh instead of 1500.

I had a VY SS ute fitted with Leather, Hardlid and alot of extras. When I used to leave the dump it would weigh including me 1680kg and know I own a VE SSV fitted with Hardlid and when I drive out the dump we til the scales at 1960kg.
So the VE ute is alot heavier.
