Has anyone got a twin 2.5'' pacemaker exhaust on VT-VZ, id like some feedback in sound and performance. On there website they say new inovative V-Tex design , what do they sound like?
Thanks

Ive heard one on a stock VZ ute and it sounds awesome.
No rear muffler and it sounds deep and sweet as.
Thats what happens when you use 409 grade steel and not kitchen sink crap.

Ive got one one on my VZ SS ute.. twin 2.5" with no rear muffler. Sounds really good. Manual too, so shifting down the gears gives it a good rumble. Might be able to get a clip of the sound if you want..?

I am running a twin 2.5", 4-1 Paccie headers, 100cpi cats, twin Paccie centre hotdog mufflers and twin Paccie resi's and it sounds of it's head. A bit of rasp when cold during upshifts then gets better (apparently normal with 4-1 headers) but overall, it sounds f*cken angry as. No way would it be legal, as it is a bit too loud, but the rumble is out of this world.

Its not for me but my mate who has a VY Clubsport. He's heard my diffillipo but quite doesnt fit his budget whereas the pacemaker does.
I curious also what they sound like as matched with pacemaker headers and no cats im guessing would sound good

so your one has been modified as the pacemaker one has two mufflers and rear in/out rear resi.

You sure about the price on the cat back?
The new Pacemaker catback is just about the same price as the DF.
Sounds just as good too. In fact, the Pacemaker catback has a flange where
the rear section bolts on. Compared to DF where U clamps are used to join/hold the rear section.

Don't know if the Pacmaker headers have changed any over the years? But I had a set of their 1 5/8" 4 into 1's on my VX SS in front of a Redback catback system.....I know guys, bad decision.....The thing sounded bloody awful. Droned worst than anything I've ever heard! I replaced the redback with a Di Filippo catback and it didn't make any real difference to the noise that particular Pacemaker headers made. So I replaced them with a set of DF headers and that fixed that! Maybe the Pacemakers have changed over the years but I'd definitely recommend you have a listen to them before buying.

VXSS9180, with your combo, did you change your cats or just have the stock ones in?

I used the stock cats with the Pacemaker/Redback combo and also the Pacemaker/Di Filippo combo. But when I replaced the Pacemaker headers with Di Filippo's, I had metal substrate cats installed. It's a very nice sounding system.

Like the headers, the cats can have a huge bearing on the note.
Having the stock cats in would explain why when you changed them along
with the DF headers it sounded heaps better.

i gets lots of comments on the DF 3'' but ive got a cam and that made a hude difference in sound. For a stock standard LS1 285 Kw i think the twin 2.5' will be good even a xforce but looks like he will go pacemaker

It's interesting that you've mentioned this. My brother had exactly the same work done on his VX SS as I had done to mine at the same time. The only difference between his setup and mine is that he still has the stock factory cats nestled in the middle of the full Di Filippo system. The exhaust note from his car isn't quite as deep as mine but it's not far short. From the sequence of changes made to both our cars it was clear that the Pacemaker headers were the culprits causing the issues with both cars. I can't explain why these particular Pacemaker headers had a bad note but they did with both vehicles and it wasn't until we replaced the Pacey's with DF headers that they sounded "right". But I should also say that these Pacemakers headers and Redback catback systems were fitted to our cars back in 2003 and maybe since then Pacemaker have changed their systems and it is a better product now than it was.

I had a look at Pacemaker's website. If you're looking at the Pacemaker headers to match up to a 2 1/2" catback system, the primary header pipes are 1 5/8" whereas the Di Filippo headers have 1 3/4" primaries. So the DF will have a deeper note than the Pacemaker.

Doesent the old Pacemaker headers have a 2 1/2 collector?
DF have a 3" and the stock cats are 2 1/4 at most........

Alot of companies use pacemaker 4>1 headers 3'' collector, surely the sound isnt any different running 4>1 DF headers with the same catback?

So is there a difference between 4>1 pacemaker & 4>1 DF headers, with the same cat-backk???
