Now i know we have a loyal following of various suppliers so I dont want to turn this into a "you should get a _ _ _ _ system instead.
Im wanting to hear from those that have a twin redback system and what they think of it, good or bad. Im weighing up options at this point and want an immediate fix for an exhaust issue, but if the majority of those that have it say its shyt, then I will coin up and go DF or the likes after xmas instead.
Lets hear it...

Have worked on several commodores with this exhaust and I personally didnt like the sound or the quality. But everyone is different and we all have to look at our budget as well as trying to get a decent product. Advice is go a hurricane value for money and in my opinion a better quality exhaust

Thanks fab , appreciate it.
Have a "custom" set up at the moment but finding more faults the closer I look.So weighing up going from cat back for now for bugger all coin and being happy untill I do heads in 6 months or so then scrap the lot and go 3 inch through out.In my other thread

I have an issue with raspy ,crackle noises being evident from 2500 rpm up.
So based on these redbacks being cheap Im wondering if it would suffice for a while?

I have one and am looking to get rid of it as there are better systems out there. They are on the cheap/make some noise level exhaust. Very much an entry system.
Go custom mate.

at risk of sounding rude wouldnt you prefer to spend the money once and know its money well spent rather than buying something your only going to replace??

Ill kind of go against the grain here, I have a redback sedan twin 2.5 cat back on my monaro that I bought off a member here, I modified it to fit the shorter wheel base of the monaro (deleted the rear resignator) personnly I liked the sound of it at the begining however I would rather a deep quiet note, I will obviously acheive this once I get extractors on, but it may make my exhaust louder to the point I will change it over. I have had a lot of comments from firends and even people pulling up next to me in traffic comenting on how good my car sounds, so it cant be all that bad.
I have had zero issues with it, and dont plan on changing it. they are a budget system and you could probably get a lot more for more money but weigh up whether you think it is worth it or not. For me it wasnt worth spending the extra money on another brand system tht was ultimatly gonig to do the same job

Not rude mate, its all good.
I was thinking of going the full 3 inch and better extractors before the heads but didnt know if there would be to much drone/sacrifice untill then. The 2 1/2 system I have should have been adequate after my cam install but as soon as I added the hi flow cats( last component installed after the cam, rest was allready installed) it really showed the flaws to this "custom" system. The best part are the paceys and the high flow cats, its the pipework and mufflers that are shit lol.

Thanks for the input Toddler78, at least we have a disccussion for and against.Like you said I wonder what it would sound like with extractors? See mine sounds mean and angry now its just when I get up it that note changes.

i think all comes down to sound, even a cheap system can sound good. I had a 1000 dollar single 3'' ,on my old LS1 setup and still rate the sound all as good as my current DF 3''.

I had a redback twin 2.5 on my old vx calais, it had 4-pacies then a set of try Y's after i put the 4-1's on my maloo and it sounded good, it was a hell of a lot better than the system that was on it befor. i cant give any experience of the redback without the extractors though.

redback like xforce serve their place in the market
if we all had money to burn we would all buy over priced systems
but we all spend to our means and hence a lower quality product
as saying goes u get what u pay for

Don't get me wrong it sounds great on idle but I am looking for a system that has a little bit more brightness to it. It's a personal choice really.
You can here mine if your in the Melbourne area.
Here is a short sound clip a few weeks after install.

I put a Redback dual 2 1/2" catback on my VX SS.....The thing sounded bloody awful. My car emitted a noises from its exhaust that caused me great embarrassment every time I drove it. Droned worst than anything I have ever heard!.....My first attempt to fix this problem involved putting on a set of Pacemaker 1 5/8" 4 into 1 headers.....This did not have the desired effect, it just made the offending noise from the exhaust even louder which resulted in causing me even greater embarrassment when I drove it and amplified the drone to a point where it has almost certainly damaged the hearing in my right ear.....My second attempt to fix this problem involved replacing the Redback catback with a Di Filippo dual 2 1/2" catback. Unfortunately, this did not make any real difference to the offending noise, but it did make it a little deeper and change the frequency of the drone to the point that the hearing in my right ear slowly returned..... My third and final attempt to fix this problem was to replaced the Pacemmaker headers with a set of Di Filippo 1 3/4" 4 into 1 headers and install a pair of metal substrate cats.....Finally! Sucess at long last. No more nasty noises emitted from the exhaust. No more dreadful drone. No more feelings of embarrassment when driving my pride and joy. The hearing in my right ear has now returned to its pre-Redback normality.....But best of all, my car now makes the most beautiful base baritone V8 music.....and all is right in the world................................Maybe Redback systems should be sold with a health warning just like cigarettes..........perhaps something like this would be appropriate.........."Warning! The use of this Redback catback will cause nasty noises and dreadful droning and will result in extreme embarrassment.".............

I forgot to add these points in my previous post -
1. The Redback system was recommended to me by a local exhaust shop when I inquired about a system to give the exhaust a bit of a note.
2. As with most things, you only get what you pay for. From my experience my opinion of the Redback I had is that it was at the very bottom end of aftermarket systems and in hindsight I would have preferred to have left the standard factory exhaust on my VX SS.
3. I made the additional mistake of taking further advice from the same local exhaust shop to fit a set of headers. I was advised by said exhaust expert this would improve or better still fix the problems caused by the Redback. It didn't, it just proved that two wrongs don't make a right! And at considerable cost!
4. If you have future plans in terms of a cam and especially if you're considering heads, put on the best quality system you can afford. Even consider putting on the "best system" even if you can't to get the best out of those future mods. You'll kick yourself down the track if you finish up hamstringing your cars potential because you fitted a cheap/budget exhaust beforehand.
5. Spend money in an item once and do the job right the first time around. It's hard enough to earn a quid today as is, don't blow your quids on something that might be okay for now only to junk it later on when you realise it wasn't up to the job.
6. If you are looking at future mods it might be a good idea to speak with or better still visit one of the forum sponsors about your plans and get some advise to let you plot a path to achieving them. It's very easy to get the wrong advice and head down a pathway thinking it will get you where you want to go and then find out that this part isn't suitable for that bit and so forth. Remember it all costs money that you can't get back.
I hope it all works out for you.

Iv got a twin 2.5inch redback system on my car, got it about 18 months ago. I got the back resignator off and 2 hotdogs put on instead.
I absolutly love it!!! Has an awesome burble when taking off, but once up to speed and cruising it goes quiet - so there is no drone what so ever (that was a big thing for me as i do a lot of hwy km)
I get the pop and crackle on overun aswell.
With tha back resignator on it was too quiet, but with it off its fantastic. Its not to loud that it attracts police attention but loud enough to enjoy.
I actually had a cop come up and ask me what system i had on it about 12 months ago as he had a maloo, was thinking about doing an exhaust and loved the sound of my car.
Couldnt be happier with mine, i also got a lifetime warranty for as long as i own the car. Daalders in dandenong fitted it and were also great to deal with, very helpful
