This is of no help to you, but I wish someone would give me a R6!

This won't be much help either, but when they gave you the R6, did they also give you a life insurance policy naming them as the beneficiary?

the vicroads site quite clearly states Motorcycle restrictions -

Motorcycle licence and learner permit restrictions

Riding your motorcycle

If you are issued with a motorcycle licence/learners permit you are required:

* to wear an approved helmet while riding
* carry your licence/learner permit at all times while riding the motorcycle

When you first get your motorcycle licence (full or probationary), the following restrictions and conditions apply for 12 months
from the date of issue (shown on your licence card):

* only ride a learner approved motorcycle (view list of approved motorcycles for novice riders)
* must not carry a pillion passenger (a forecar or sidecar passenger is acceptable)
* must have a zero Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) while riding

A probationary motorcycle licence holder must also display a P plate (red during P1 period, green during P2 period)
on the back of your motorcycle, visible from a distance of 20 metres

Riding on a learner permit
A motorcycle learner permit holder must abide the conditions above as well as:

*
display an L plate on the back of your motorcycle, visible from a distance of 20 metres, and
*
not tow a trailer behind your motorcycle

the site continues with...

Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS)

From 1 July 2008 there will be new regulations for Learner and Probationary motorcyclists in Victoria with the introduction
of a new Learner Approved Motorcycle Scheme (LAMS).

An approved LAMS list of motorcycles and scooters, which will be updated as new models are approved by VicRoads,
provide details of all motorcycles and scooters that learners and newly licensed riders are permitted to ride. View the approved list of motorcycles for novice riders.

The LAMS list includes moderately powered motorcycles with an engine capacity up to and including 660cc which do not exceed
a power-to-weight ratio of 150 kilowatts per tonne.

the LAMS list does NOT show the R6..it is excluded
as its well over 150kw/tonne

I also suggest you read this on the LAMS scheme-
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/917AD622-7D9B-4AF6-9677-C276A83947BD/0/LAMSQandAWeb4July08.pdf

Continuing ...
if you do not obey the above you can lose /have suspended your licence as well as be
fined up to 5 penalty points ( last i knew a point was $127)
You must also front a magistrate..the copper has no discretion with this offence, its off to court

Apart from the above, you will have no legal insurance if you ride the R6 ..as its outside your licence permissions.

my opinion?
get a LAM approved bike ride it under the above rules
learn to stay alive on it...then when the time has expired
ride the R6 legally
