View Full Version : Why are threads being closed in the Tar Pit?

Recently, we've had some threads in the Tar Pit either go missing or get closed while all contributors remained quite civil.

What's the reason for the actions taken as I cannot get an answer from any of the mods? As far as I can tell no rules were broken. It seems more the case that the mods used their discretion to close/remove it without stating any reasons why.

Please don't take offence to my asking publicly as I've tried to get answers from the mods but they have failed to respond.

i wanted to have one rothschilds control the site joke but i think someone took that on...

the last thread that was closed asking just this qn by drbob! so not sure about this ones life expectancy, even though i was wondering myself?

meh. grab another forum on the issue i guess? its a shame as i find most of the input on here to be civil, constructive or at the least, entertaining

I'm glad you agree, DD. I've had others PM me wondering where threads have gone? Unfortunately, I'm none the wiser? :confused:

I'm not getting any feedback from the mods. So I pose the question here. If the mods object to certain topics being discussed, I would like to know what topics are off limits.

Far be it for me to waste my time sharing info with others if the mods will close the thread without reason.

pretty sure this can't be construed as a cross promotion so;

I'm not a member on there but float about it sometimes when i'm bored. pretty full spread of chat and nice collection and spread of political/theological/fringe discourse. worth a look if your'e bored and in the mood for anything a bit abstract to the ole ls1

From a moderator perspective, not having received any notification in relation to this query in my email box, I can only comment generically. Some of the threads simply get so repetitive and tiresome to moderate, that it may simply be the case that the decision is made to close them, so that all parties can take a breath.

First and foremost, this is a car enthusiast forum. Yes, the Tar Pit is there for some banter and off-car-topic threads, however, those threads do not form the basis of the forum.

There are other outlets, conspiracy forums, crystal balls and gypsies, whom would all be more than willing to discuss these therories, ideals and thoughts ad-nauseum.

I do not think this is the place to do so.

Clearly, if people cannot accept that ideology, then, there are other forums and other outlets, for them to proffer those arguments - in other places.

cheers

Oh yeah, I take this thread for what it is, however, also warn that some who cannot simply agree to a moderator decision, do place themselves in jeopardy of losing their welcome at this forum. No apologies and no correspondence shall be entered into. People 'sign' an agreement when they become members here and nowhere in those agreements is there any scope for negotiation - this is not a democracy.
