How about the satnav connector behind the glovebox then (or the fusebox)

Found one !! The pink wire that heads up to the GTS binacle gauges seems to ok for power, I'll see how it goes as I am only pulling 2 amps max. If that fails I'll go with your suggestion back to the fuse box. Just trying to keep surplus wiring to a minimum and tidy. Next one I;m after is a head light power wire without going under the bonnet - any suggestions guys ??

A headlight power wire? ie a wire that has power only when the headlights are on? If so, you should find that going to the gauge binnacle also

Tried that - no good cannot have dimming as the head light power to gauge automatically dims the gauge once "night" power is activated. Those in the know will the power from the fuse box be the same at the head light or is it reduced to 5 or so volts on the VE ??

The pink wire is switched power supplied from the bcm. You may be over doing it drawing two amps for the lambda heater though. The big lighter power wire should be switched, my bet is you didn't remove the key and open the door when testing the circuit .
As for headlights, again you cannot draw much current, and from memory they are neg switched so you will only get power from the relay onwards

your best to get it straight from the ignition
running 2 things off one power source is not good as it will draw to much current which it wasnt designed for and can end up burning fuses

Good info thanks
What will I be looking for if it is "over doing it " Can you enlighten me on this - The big lighter power wire should be switched ??
test took place door open key off and then on but not removed , flattened the battery stuffing around all day though.
Seems such a drama now days to do anything and too scared to stuff something up, might just hook up with a experienced autolec to set it up if I cant find the simple answers.

Ultimately you may start blowing fuses and/or the wiring may get warm. if you have two circuits you want switched, and the big lighter one is staying on all the time, use that as your power supply and switch the circuits using relays and switch using the supply you desire. Main thing to be careful/mindful of is to stay clear I'd using a twisted pair or any brown or brown with a black trace wires as they are the GM LAN wires
