Hey,
I changed my rear pads a month ago or so to bendix.. The $79 from supercheap auto.
What I've noticed is my rear disc get at least 3 times hotter then the fronts.
This is just with normal driving, this sounds stupid but I can't touch the rear disc after but I can touch the front disc. This was last night going east on the m4 exiting to parra rd then to five dock. Wasn't going hard at all.

Is this normal? I don't know wat the fronts r... I think bendix ulitmates but going to change before track day in Jan.

Binding handbrake

My handbrake is adjusted very tight, good point. Will that just go away after a few drives (I don't drive often) or is it worth getting it adjusted?

Thanks

as said check you hand brake adjustment
and check to see if the calliper sliders are grease
if there dry it will cause the callipers to drag

jack the rear up and turn the wheel and see if it is dragging
if it is back it off a little till you can just hear the shoes touching

Correct way to adjust the handbrake is to ensure the brake shoes are adjusted correctly, then adjust the cable if it needs it. If you have a LSD, you need to jack up both wheels (chock the front wheels and jack under rear xmember should do it). Take off the rear wheels and look for a rubber grommet at 6 o'clock on the outer part of the disc. This gives access to an adjuster. Use a screw driver to turn a small wheel to expand the brake shoes (think of it as turning a nut on a thread). Turn it until the wheel is locked, then back off 3 clicks. Do the other side the same way.

Get inside the car and lift up the handbrake boot in a VY. You will see the handbrake cable end with a nut to adjust its length. Try the handbrake, it should be tight after 4 clicks. If it needs more than 4 clicks, tighten the adjuster to make the wheels lock at 4 clicks, check the wheels by hand. Release the handbrake and check the wheels for free turning. It is lazy to just tighten the cable end as you are never sure the shoes are adjusted correctly. The shoes will last longer than your car, but need to be adjusted correctly.

Note also that you do not need to take off the rear discs ... the rubber grommet gives you all the access you need. 10 minute job.
