Hey everyone! I just purchased a second hand VE maloo and noticed that the hardlid was making a really wierd clinging type sound when u press the "boot" button on the keys. Has anyone had any similar experience with the hardlid locking system ? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The rubber seal isn't puttung enough upwards pressure on the lid. It's worse when it's cold ie all winter. If u apply gentle upward pressure with your fingers, it'll click open cleanly. I had the rubber seal replaced under warranty and the latch "adjusted" but it still does it :bawl:

oh ok . Does it matter whether the car is locked or unlocked? When you press the hardlid button ?

Nope. The hardlid latch is independent of the doors

Its a known fault it is actually the actuator isnt aligned properly mine went in for its 15k service last week it had been doing the same thing as u said after they realigned it no more probs.
But as Steve said before it was fixed I would just put upward pressure on the lid as I pressed the button

I've had my VE Maloo now for 3 years & it has been a problem from day One. Holden have tried to fix it on numerious occasions but the problem still keeps on comming back. Have found slight upwood pressure on either corner while pressing the button always helps. cheers...:)...
