Hi Guys,
Did a quick search but didn't fine nothing specific to ute.
From what I understand the redline ute comes standard with tyre sealant kit is there an optional spare wheel (even space saver)?
Has it got to do with full sized spare being required to clear Brembo brakes on front?
Wouldn’t it be better to have a space save spare rather than just tyre sealant kit; tyre sealant kit would be fine for small punchers, but what would happen if you where to have a tyre blow out?
Cheers
Chris

That maybe ok for the first 12 months after that you pay for the service! "Road service" although the vehicle is under warranty for three years.
Cheers

Buy a cheapish 18' wheel and get a second hand tyre, put it where your spare should be, Speedy Cheetah will clear the brake or there is a bob Jane one also I believe

People seem to be forgetting that you can use a standard spare wheel on the redline ute.
It just means that if you get a flat front tyre, you have to jack up the car twice. Assuming you have a flat front tyre you have to do the following...
Jack up rear of car and remove good wheel/tyre and fit spare wheel
Jack up front of car and replace flat tyre with good rear wheel
Too easy

Thats exacty what I was thinking, so why wouldn't they provide a spare?

The 'redline' package is for the enthusiast who wants more performance. The spare wheel is extra weight which hinders performance and thus was deleted. Google translate says this says 'cost savings' :goodjob::rofl::rofl:

After I had my 15,000km service done at the dealer I got a letter from Holden saying that as a reward/thank-you they would extend my Roadside Assist cover for another 12 months. :)
(I still have my car serviced by my dealer to keep in their good books in case it helps in case I need to make a warranty claim that given my mods they would otherwise reject. I then get Chev to check it over and also do my in between oil and filter changes.)

Got a blow out after hitting a pot hole in the middle of no where. Rang holden assist and they told me I would have to pay for the tilt tray as I didn't have a spare!
Had one day left on my RACQ thankfully, otherwise it would have been an expensive exercise.

Just got a quote for the parts to fit my ute with a spare. About $1600 for the rim, carrier and tool kit from the local dealer. It was $800 just for the rim. ( a bit dearer than the $350 I was originally quoted)
Does anyone know where I could pick up the rim for a reasonable price? Or is $800 reasonable? I found a place called NVU which has good prices for the carrier and tool kit.

Thanks for that, had not worried about them as their website only had a set of 4. Just phoned them and they will do a single rim for $298 delivered. :goodjob:

did you not read the rest of the thread where it was announced that speedy cobalt fit over the brembos, they cost $140 from bob jane and a sh*tty tyre for like $100 makes a cheap spare!
you could also get one of those 16" steel holden spares with a tyre for less than $100, and if your front blows, move a rear to the front and put the spare on the rear... bit more hassle, not like it happens often though, and cheaper again!
I agree that its a good idea to have a spare in case, but why waste all that money on something that you use 0.1% of the time, Ive been driving 9yrs and never had to change a wheel!
no offence..

I read the whole thread, if I wanted a non genuine rim I would have got the cobalt. I'm glad you haven't had a flat in nine years but I've wrecked three tyres in nine months on potholes, a rim will most likely be next. One trip for the ute on a tilt tray at 11 o'clock at night in the middle of nowhere is one to many for me thanks.
You won't think a spare wheel is a waste when holden road side assist want you to pay to have your car picked up because you don't have a spare.

The centre bore of the original wheel won't fit through the standard hanger, you will have to modify the hanger or machine out the centre - which will leave you with a bad wheel anyway.

Thanks for that info. I have thought I will need to make some mods to get this to work and at worst I will just strap the wheel in the back.

I've gotta ask..... what makes you say that?
I have noticed theres a new design of hanger that appeared with the series 2 commodore utes.....

That's interesting you should say that as my mechanic friend who has been looking into this said the hanger part numbers were different between series 1 and 2. Looks like I have a bit of research to do to make this work.

Did anyone sort this out?
Just got my 5 x Redline Alloys and Brembos today to discover the Redline rim centre bore is too small for the spare carrier... (as stated above)..
Is the series 2 compatible?
