how much power and punishment do you think the standard drive line in a ve ss will take eg gearbox diff driveshafts etc thinking bout going with a nitrous kit on a cammed ls3 should be high 400rwkw and its a manual any experiences would be great too

LoL, the way you drive dunno about power wise but ide say 100 meters :D
Good clutch should handle more then you can throw at it, it all depends if you gonna side step it with big tyres.

Depends how hard you drive it, and how sticky the rear tyres are. Doing flat out launches with slicks will really hurt the clutch.
While on the move id say you'd be ok for a couple of hard runs, but thats a LOT of power and stock parts will only survive for so long.

Best bet is to leave it stock besides the clutch and have spare driveshafts, its better to have a broken driveshaft than a diff or gearbox.
Yeah wagon is going good thanks Chief.

got an aftermarket clutch so dont think that be a prob more intrested in gearbox diff and driveshafts and dive it like you stole it or dont drive it at all

Yeah tell me about it. Holden wanted $950 for a pair of CV shafts for a VX... I nearly died. Second hand from the wreckers was $100 with warranty. Even thats overpriced, but i was on the track and needed on ASAP, so just went to the nearest wreckers.

Plenty of "potential" to destroy either a gearbox, tailshaft, diff or driveshafts there, and of course that nos might not help the engine particularly either...

You think $100 s/h is overpriced compared to $950 new?
Wreckers would be spewing they have to sell them that cheap, trust me.

Well $100 is closer to their manufactured unit cost :). Probably $10 - $20 each.
Though $100 from a wrecker for a pair of half shafts is an excellent price by comparison.
Get a quote from a machine shop and see what they cost though! :)
HNY :).

have a question its not about the driveline but the block in the ve ss L98 how much power do they normally take before they start to crack? is it at all possable to get 1000hp from an alloy block?
cheers

Yes 1000HP is possible if you dont rattle it. 1200HP is possible. And you dont want it running at that level for long. It depends mostly on how the power is delivered. From memory the stock crank runs out at around 800HP under heavy duty use. Having an engine that will run 1000HP a few times on a dyno and that will get 1000HP to the ground in a street car on regular tyres, and 1000HP continuous in race conditions are 3 different things. Try 1000HP in race conditions and you will drive over stock pistons, rods and block parts before too long.
If the tune is bad and the engine gets rattled (knocks bad) at full power much, the stock pistons will start falling apart at 500HP or less as they are hot, getting plastic and detonation just bangs the ring lands clean off and/or the crown expands so much it nips the bore.

ls engines love nos got a couple of mates being running 200 dry shots on engines for four years drag racing and street thrashing and they still on original engines the only prob they have now is noisey lifters its all in the tune if it is tuned incorrectly it wont last 5 mins

Few wreckers in sydney would do that price
I am sure the choice in melbourne is even greater if my web research means anything
Just ring around local wreckers mate - you will eventually find some at a decent price!
