View Full Version : Another engine powertrain light has come on question

Lately my LS2 (with full 4-1 exhaust mods) has decided to engage the orange engine light in the dash. I havn't had such an issue for 2 years since exhaust and tune was performed.
After disconnecting the battery, the light goes away and then will come back after a whole hour of driving. It has happened twice now.
Could this mean an O2 sensor has failed or it is intermintently failing? If an O2 sensor is completely dead, would't the engine light come on immediately after start up (after a battery reset has taken place) ?

there's probably several hundred reasons that the light could come on, guessing may get expensive.
The o2 may only trigger a light to come instantly if the heater circuit has failed, otherwise a little driving may need to be done for the problem to set a code

Benton, your best option is to find someone with a scan tool to determine why the CEL keeps tripping . Yes, could possibly be a dead O2 but you need to check the code as LS2 have 4 O2s - 2 pre cat and 2 post cat.
Its guesswork until you determine what Diagnostic Trouble Code is causing the Checking Engine Light.
I have recently had a similar issue.
Hope this helps..

There aren't too many faults that will cause an intermittant ECL most will not auto reset, how many K's does it have on it?

20,000 KLM's buddy.
I noticed this has happened ever since I filled with BP Ultimate. Always used to use the VPower stuff with no issues. Could be a coincidence though.
