I consistently search carsales so i know where i am in the market. I often stumble across cars that the owners seem to ask well over above their fair market price.

I compare like for like models and factor in km etc to see what presents poor value as opposed to good value.

Some of the poor value cars i see are

BA-BF GT special edition models (cobra, gt40) ford stick only a stripe on it and owners think they can command another $20k over a regular BA-BF GT. They are not functionally better one little bit than the standand GT. The equivalent clubsport is quicker and a good bit cheaper

AU T3 TS50 (5.6 litre, 250kw) these owners are even more twisted? They want upwoods of $35k for a 2001-2002 model. Have they not heard of a 300kw gts that would upend it and its cheaper??

The 2002 monaro, its just a vt2 SS but they want double and more the price of a vt2 ss.

Post up a pic or link of a poor value car for sale. They must think there are suckers out there, are they genuine sellers? Or because carsales offers advertise till you sell it they just put it up in case of a sucker?

I have been looking at Carsales alot lately. I am looking at selling my SSZ soon and getting either a VZ Maloo, SSZ ute, or SS tonner. So of course, i have been looking at the price of them all, aswell as SSZ sedans, so i know what to do with mine. There are of course a few SSZ sedans for sale that are WAY over what they should be.

There is one that is over $40k, just becuase it has a cam, and "chip", aswell as wheels, exhaust, genuine 2005 Monaro bonner (on a VZ??? lol) and things like that.

Now for my own car, i will put it up starting at $30k. Mine has low KM's, plus alot of mods. I think that is reasonable, considering what the SSZ's are going for now, stock, with higher KM's.

Ive also been looking at FPV GT's, as my old man is in the market for one. And once again, there is many that make you laugh. Just search FPV's with in 250km of 4133 post code, and youll see what i mean

I guess people like to believe (rightly or wrongly) that their example is better than the rest. Especially those that maintain their vehicles fastidiously. I got a rude awakening last year when I sold my VY SS and could only get $14,000. And that was after 6 months of advertising! And good luck getting anywhere near $30,000 for a VZ! :bawl:

Another thread where the matter is subjective to each person.. just because they are asking those kinds of dollars doesn't mean they are getting it. Just because you don't like a TS250 doesn't mean someone doesn't dream of owning one every night. Supply and demand. The rant is endless and pointless circle.

So far you are the 2nd most useless thread starter of 2011. Congratulations. FDC

Most of the time its the wife nagging the husband to sell the car and get a practical car. So the husband advertisers it at a ridiculous price so it doesnt sell but keeps the wife happy cos he is making an effort to sell
