Guys
I am toying with an idea of going back to an earlier model HSV. A VZ HSV Senator to be exact. My first choice would be a Skaife Signature Edition which I have found one and very interested in. I’m really keen to find out the major differences between the Skaife and a normal VZ Senator. Also, what were the upgrades/options available to the HSV’s then?
Thanks for your help.

Good choice Bonners,
There's nothing better looking than a VZ HSV.

Adam, I sold the ute for one of these not long ago. Picked up a 2006 VZ Senator, Phantom with black interior. Had 84k on it and aside from a couple of chips on the front bar is immaculate. Paid 32k and all the models I was looking at were around 34-37k, this was in Vic though.
Skaife models surprisingly werent too much more but I wanted a white one and second choice was black and this one was the right price with what was available.
Sensational cars these and being the last of the old chassis and model really have everything you could want. From what I gather the only options were satnav, bluetooth, upgrade brakes & sunroof. Obviously the Skaife gets the different suspension and a couple of signatures around it.
The LS2/4L65 combo is excellent, I swore once I would never buy another auto Holden but this has changed my opinion. Shifts are precise, firm and it actually picks gears for kickdown quite well stock. Goes like a shower of shit and will happily kick out into 2nd and with the box tuned hits 3rd gear hard too. What really surprised me is the quality of the exhaust, full stainless from cats back from true 2.5" down to 2 1/4 (I think) from the mufflers and sounds great.
Handling is good for std, Im not going to change the self levelling until the shocks give up. ride height is good, sharp and stiff and turns quite well. My only pick would be the brakes but I reckon its got average pads in it from their behaviour.
If you still have my number give us a call if you got any questions.

VZ Senator's are the way to go, good luck finding one, there are some out there with all the options.
Mine has the sunroof, bluetooth and AP brakes, no satnav.
The Skaife's have the same suspension as all other Z senators but they have the upgraded AP 4 spot brakes fitted as std.
I left my springs std HSV but changed the shocks all round to Koni Yellows (removed the crappy self leveling rear) and the car handles and rides so much better than before.

guys thanks for the info.
I have found a few but if I do it I wanted to make sure I was getting the good stuff....
Ash, I might give you a ring anyway to have a chat about them. I have found some nice ones for good money but the Skaife I have my eye on is listed at $49k. It does appear to be in mint condition but I feel it may be overpriced.
Arent Senator's all auto's?

I was going to buy a VZ Senator before i got my SSZ. It was at Supps at Browns Plains. Ioffered them $30k drive away (it was $37k, and i got $6k trade in on the VS SS i traded in). They took there time to get back to me, so i bought the SSZ instead.
Now im looking at selling the SSZ and getting a VZ Maloo lol

I know who owns #46.
Wasn't #47 in Street Commodores recently? I'm sure it was.
Utesrule, I dont want to spend $50k on it either. It is also in Adelaide which is a bit of a problem.

I contacted the seller - sent him an email address and mobile number. He phoned and I was busy and he left this message saying if I was a scammer etc wanting to purchase it for his brother on an oil rig etc not to bother ringing back....lol
I haven't rung back because of chrissie, new years etc. I would be very interested. But as I said, I have to sell mine and I hadn't even contemplated that part yet.

Hi
I also had a VZ Skaife Senator and is why I have the username and personalised plates HRTSEN. I had build number 50 of 50 (only 50 were made). I believe the Skaife's were only available in black duco and either cream or black interior. All were autos and all had larger AP brakes but not 100% sure on the brakes though.
Their is not much difference between a skaife senator and a normal VZ Senator besides the obvious chrome colored trimmings on the exterior. I would have probably preferred a white VZ Senator and put a manual in it as I think they look very smart. I sold it about 2.5 to 3 years ago for just under $50,000 and had somewhere around 20 to 30,000 k's...can't remember exactly.
If you think I have some info to help you please pm me or email me on richard@alicudi.com.au
regards,
Richard

Yeah that's what I thought. A young Victorian owns #47 (now I guess) and it was in issue 173 of street commodores.

Hi
I would say $42,000 to $43,000 if it is in absolute immaculate condition. I personally wouldn't pay over $38,000 if I was to buy it and I really like these cars!

43 to 46 for me. If its the car you want then go for it. I may be doing the same thing if i can find a SV6000 later on in the year. Same situation, high cost VZ but they are unique, and the big thing... its what you want. I bet you, using a car show as a base, more people would look at one of these than a same cost VE

Can't see it being worth $49K, high 30's sure, but $49K. tell him he's dreaming son. I don't know how much extra a Skaife might be over a normal Senator, but I think that would be about $11K too much.

$49k is a ridiculous amount of coin.
i'd gather as many prices for recently purchased ones and try to chat with the guy. sounds like he won't budge though. maybe meet him at kfc with cash in a bag.

not exactly what you want.
perth to melb 2 wks ago, with autotrans $645 depot to depot. also quoted $835 door to door metro. had very good dealings with them, will use again for sure.

....lol
I have actually found another. But, unfortunately he is asking roughly the same. And his comment was the price wont move much.
I kind of think I'd stay with the VE if I had to pay that much.

Well, it is clear that these people don't really want to sell if they are asking those prices. The cars simply are not worth that coin in today's market.
The one on the HSV Forum would be a cracker of a buy if it is still available.
cheers

I've sent him an email. I agree. At the price it would be well worth it. And with it not being a Skaife I wouldn't mind throwing a few bucks at it in work
