Hey Guys,

Just wondering i am wanting to put a camshaft in my ls1, and i want to know what would be the best cam to go for to get the most torque out of my car.. Its a stock ls1 motor with a Vortech s trim supercharger on it, running 7 psi boost. I also would like to hear that nice thump from the camshaft???

Thanks guys

Probs be looking at something like a 222/228 at 114lsa. might be struggling to get the best out of a cam and have a decent lump.

So can i not have the torque aswell as the thump?? Is it one or the other??? How much difference would a cam make on a blown car as apose to naturally aspirted.. Sorry for all the questions..

thanks

you can have lump as well as torque but usually and i may be wrong here to have the lump with a blown car you are not gonna get the max power out of a the camshaft upgrade as you can get. i might be wrong but say a 117lsa cam would work better and give better results then say a 112lsa on a blown car but the 117lsa wont really have any lump compared to a 112lsa. Im happy to be corrected but this is what i understand.

You are correct with any type of forced induction 115-117 lobe separation works best. But in saying that you have a cam with 115 lobe separation will still give you a lumpyish idle and when matched to the engine, type of blower and boost, Will increase power and torque. A camshaft will always make more power providing you take into consideration what mods are done what compression etc.

I just got rid of my Ls1 ute and it had a crank drive vortech running 12 pound boost and a 227 232 112lsa cam was lumpy as and sounded awsome with twin 3" system and that put out 508rwhp through a 4l60 with a 3000rpm stall, that was a stocko ls1
