Depends,

Is it going to be used to carry a load or just for show?
Are you going to be doing more modifications or leaving it (relatively) stock?

I like the VU Maloo, but if your after performance id try and get my hands on a VZ Maloo with the EDIT LS2 6L V8. Much lighter than the VE, more unique and i personally think better looking.

That said overall the VE is probably a better car (especially if used as a daily driver). The VT/VX (VU) range is starting to get long in the tooth (Features, age and kms).

+1 VE SS

though I agree with what feistl said as well. VZ maloo would be a good one to go for.

cheers,

Gav

If it was from a brand new member I would take this topic to be for post building purposes...
Do you have any real reason for comparing them? Virtually EVERYONE will say VE, particularly in the absence of any other reason to choose the much older and cheaper VU.

So Davo you dont think there is something cool about going and getting that car you loved but couldnt afford when you were young?

Vu has the coulsen seats, looks tuff and is HSV. It is cheaper and I think is starting to get to an age where its in the tuff section of hsvs. First of the LS1s. If a maloo goes past you say 'ooo maloo'
I could pocket the difference of coin and pump it into other vehicles.

VE is an awesome ute with new engine and look good. They go great but you must admit if a new ss goes past you say 'looks good' and 5 seconds later you see another.

Thanks to everyone for pointig to the VZ. Thats what I was after constructive advice.

If you think its a stupid question just dont answer.

ide sell my ve ssv ute tomorrow and go to a vz maloo, love em, but just couldnt find the right one, devil yellow , 6 speed with all the whistles and low kms, just settled for a ve, a maloo no matter wat model is always gonna get the wow factor, where as a sv6 or ss half of the people on the road cant tell the dif, where as a hsv you always can, good thread i reckon mate this should be interesting

vu maloo still a bloody tough as nails looking rig i reckon

devil yellow , 6 speed with all the whistles and low kms,

Mmmm drool (http://www.uniquecarsales.com.au/pls/unique/!unique_content.enquiry?current_rec=1&page_number=1&vehicle_id=9561850&total_rec=2&sort_type=3&make_id=81&model_id=545&badge_id_list=25144,25833,25834,25145,27056,27057, 31636,31637,36870,42242,42241,40163,40160,36871&keywords=yellow)

Finding the right version at the right price can be a challenge. But you look at that ute (as an example) for $35k, your going to get a LOT more looks compared to a standard SS.

My ideal one would be a 2006 VZ Maloo R8 with the 6L V8, 6 speed manual and 6 piston AP brakes. Upgrade the Diff (3.91s, trutrac), short shifter, head/cam/exhaust/otr, 5% tint, 19" wheels and a really good detail. Can you imagine one in black at night time....

I was actually considering a vz maloo against the series II ssv ute I've now ordered.

Could pick up a roughish late model maloo for mid $20k, good one will command over $30k.

In the end I went for the VE SSV Redline, because it has warranty, it's brand new, comfier, more features, and that was important to me. I'll be towing my race car and driving up and down the east coast so for $10k more I'm getting peace of mind and comfort.

So I am getting the feeling VZ Maloo vs VE ss may be a better question?

So I am getting the feeling VZ Maloo vs VE ss may be a better question?

The VZ is a fair bit newer (so less Kms) and comes with the LS2 which is a better engine than the LS1. Plus the VY/VZ interior is nicer than the VT/VX (personally i think the older exterior is better though).

Could always look at modified VUs with say a LS3 conversion?

I was in there after xmas, got to see my pistons:rofl:, sean said he'd get it back together soon, no biggy im over it all anyway just feel like burning it.

Regards the utes, well my personal taste would be the vz ls2 maloo, much nicer and rarer than a bloody ss ute, the ve is a better car in a few ways but i still personaly like the older hsv's a lot more.
If you do want a ve ss ute i have a mate selling a black manual ve ss ute in dubbo.

Well, being school holidays and all, it is the season for crap threads. :spew:
Rather than putting in a half @rsed effort with your original post, why not just tell everyone what your deal was? How's everyones crystal balls going tonight?
Predictably, the thread went the way everyone would have expected!
Oh, and by the way, you asked this on a public forum. If you are a bit too precious to accept public commenting, perhaps you need a new hobby...:teach:
