I just want to get peoples ideas/thoughts/knowledge on using E85 in a carby fed engine.

Specifically I have just got my road/race bike back on the road and was thinking of putting a tank of E85 in it to see if it will net me anymore power. nothing has been done to the carbies re jetting.
would I need to do this do you think or will banging some in the tank and running it be fine for the engine without doing any other work to it?

Unless you can take advantage of E85's properties by advancing spark or raising compression, I doubt you will see any benefit, and will likely lose power, as it has less energy per unit compared to regular ULP.

What he said .. plus most likely you'll damage the soft components in the fuel system and get water into the carbs from the ethanol drawing water out of suspension in the fuel (especially as a lot of bikes sit outside in the rain etc)
