Hi there,

I have recently purchased a wh caprice, and have been searching the forums for exhaust's etc.
I find it really difficult as obvisouly everyone has got there own personal taste with what is a good sounding exhaust.

So i am just wondering if anyone in the adelaide has a got a twin 3" on a LS1 made by x-force or Di Filippo, or one of the systems mark does down at Exhaust Technology, that they are willing to let me have a listen to.

I happy to give a bit of a reward, carton of beer, or something along those lines..

Cheers in Advance,
James.

Have never seen/heard a pre VE system from Mark at Exhaust Technology but his VE stuff (AKA KPM) is awesome. :woohoo:

Yes wonky, i have heard very good things about his VE systems.
How ever in his pre VE systems he does jun-bl xpipe into Twin 2.5" with 2 centre hot-dogs(Similiar setup to the centre of the ve system) then merges to a single 3" below the back seats and then at the rear, Single 3" inlet with a Twin 2.5" rear muffler. Im thinking of camming my car in the near future so maybe single 3" is too small?

I had a set up like that on my VX, but it was 2.5 inch all the way through to the rear. Sounded good, but with a bit of drone.
Maybe go talk to Mark. He would know what would sound best.

Are you just looking at doing the cat-back or the full system?

If full system be aware that not all LS1 headers are compatible with Caprice due to Caprice's variable power steering rack (think this applies to Statesman and possibly Calais too). Pretty sure this is accurate - have read it on here in a few different threads.

Can't see that you will have any issues if buying new, but if you look to save some coin by getting second-hand headers then make sure they will be clear of the power steering rack before you purchase.

On that note (sorry for the thread hijack) - does anyone know if HSV VY II headers are compatible with a WH Caprice steering rack, or anyone with aftermarket headers on a WH able to advise what headers they have? And are ute/wagon cat-backs from the VTII-VYI era suitable for a Statesman/Caprice as they are all long wheelbase?

Hi paok 18, i have a twin 3in Manta that you can listen to if you want, engine is ls3 but no cam has a few other goods but wont effect the sound too much. I am happy with the sound so as long as your happy with what ever you choose thats all that matters.
