hey,
i am on holidays down south (Broulee\near Batemans Bay).....
I was driving today down here on the princess hwy and then i heard a tap like metal hitting the road.... it only happened when i acclerated a bit or hit a bump in the road.

I looked under my car but its dark and can feel the rear muffler (just behind the back wheel) is not attached there, it goes up and down etc but the tips are still attached but sitting higher....

Since i am away i obviously cant get Sonny to fix it right now (360km drive to Syd)..

The entire exhaust just hangs on clips and doesnt bolt on... Do you think i would be able to attach\clip it back on if i just jack my car? unless its broken then im screwed... or better off just to take it to a garage down here and get them to have a look?

btw i drive back to sydney on saturday afternoon and have a track day next friday. (21st)

Cheers

you should have no drama putting the rubber holder back on it just pushes over a rod hanging down, they normally have a circlip preventing it from coming off, if this is mising just get it on as best as possible, I would add a zip tie to stop the rubber from sliding off. most supercheaps sell the exhaust hanger (rubber thing) if you're missing it completely.

Coat hanger in the meantime should fix you up.

Can you use metal wire to tie it up till you get home.

sweet, thanks everyone.
Theres no supercheap auto for a fair while. I'll go to town and find a hardware shop and get some metal wire and cable ties and jack the car up and try to put it on that clip. (or try the coat hanger) and call Sonny tomorrow to drop it off on Monday.

thanks guys and girls if there was any

Don't put cable ties on the exhaust.....

Metal wire should see it through til you get it to a workshop. Zip ties are plastic lol, plastic + heat = ???.

hey good news, the clips\mounts are fine....

bad news the rear 2 mufflers have cracked where the pipes join up pretty bad.
ive put some 2mm tire wire (dont know the spelling) to hold it up until i get it back to sydney.

so so so so so so annoyed after i just spend 2200 fixing\replacing my extractors and getting new cats.

btw i also have a track day on friday so have to get it fixed asap

when i was reading this the other day, i was thinking "sounds like the problem i had" my centre mufflers had rusted around the front where the pipe goes in and the tips where pointing more down than straight out.
easy fix put 2 hotdogs in their place, and sound heaps better.
just a thought

yep sounds exactly what happened.. But mine is both my center and rear muffler....
i have put tire wire on it but i dont think it will last the 360kms back.. i have the tire wire on the rear muffler and 2 on the pipe and 1 on the rear tip.. i think im going to have to put some on the center muffler.

Was going to enjoy the 30km of winedy road but now not so much.

I think the hot dogs will be to loud, i already have difillipo 4in1's and difillipo cats and a surflo 3.5" medium system so it is pretty loud and deep.

Cheers, i guess after u said that i might only need new mufflers so not as much $$ as i thought.
