Hey,
I did a track day yesterday and my car has a bit of body roll.. I have pedders sports ryder shocks and springs and bushes... I have the black (thin) holden sway bar in the engine bay.
What would help fix this?
bigger strut brace and rear sway bar or stiffer springs?

Thicker sway bars front and rear will definitely help but at the end of the day if you want it cornering flat with minimum body roll you are going to need heavier springs - keep in mind that you will then really need harder shocks to control the harder springs.
Getting better quality bushes through out the car can make a big difference too.

as said bigger sway bars heaver springs and shocks
but in the end its a big heavy commo and its gunna take a bit of coin to set it up not to body roll and the trade off is its gunna be very stiff and bumpy on the road

a bit of body roll can be a good thing - if u have none it'll set it up for more understeer,
prob best to look at bushes front and rear and adjustable sway bars.
cheers,

Welcome to the world of big heavy boats trying to go fast around corners :).
First step as mentioned would be front/rear sway bars (Whiteline are good) and a strut brace for the engine bay. Dont use Nolathene bushes (i did a full set in my car, a few track days later and the bushes are all stuffed. Im about to change them all over for SuperPro bushes from Wholesale Suspension).
The next step up from there would be coil overs for the front and adjustable shocks/heavy duty springs for the rear. Was the alignement stock (Eg road use) or did you get it "tuned" for the track? It doesn't look like your running much negative camber... Id recommend getting your suspension alignment setup for the track as that will help considerably.
How did your brakes/power steering hold up?
Do a search for "preparing for track days" as theres a few good threads around with lots of information.
For the record, im running Whiteline Sway Bars/Strut Brace, Custom Tein Coilovers (front) from Wholesale suspension which very heavy duty springs and koni adjustable shocks in the rear. I normally run around -2.5 degrees camber in the front, and -1 degree in the rear. I get my tires nitrogen filled and the car (VX SS) is massively better to drive. Even though ive added heaps of weight in (its over 2T with driver) it out handled every other commodore at Philip Island and Sandown (including VE GTSs with lowered suspension).
Get the suspension right, decent semi slicks and a proper brake setup and the car will be really enjoyable to drive and pretty quick. Once you've got that all sorted, then you start looking at power.
Cheers, Errol.

Im with the majority.
heavy duty swaybars.
you have 2 options
whiteline do some (as they bought the rights to selby swaybars)
signature swaybars are the new name for the ones made by selby engineering.
better bushes etc will help alot.
i personally do not like the whiteline strut brace as i find it stiffens up the front to much when combined with the signature swaybars combo.
when the back steps out with strut brace on there is very little room fopr error.
My mechanic can tell if the strut brace is on or off just by going for a drive and stepping the back out slightly.

thanks,
i had Yoko A050 but i thikn they nothing left..
i guess anything with motorsport involes a bit of $$.
I might get front and rear bars but dont really want to change the shocks as well as the springs since i spent a fair bit of $$ doing ALL the bushes, shocks and springs.
The strut brace i have on now is the $60 black one from holden so nothing to thick.
and i guess my SS is a bit heavier then my mates evo...
I didnt have a track set up for the camber, my mate did it the mornign of the track day, went to -1 to -3... i'll def get that done before the next day..
i bought the semi's second hand and they had life on them but turn 2 destoryed my front right.
so i'll get front and rear sway bars and bigger strut brace and the camber.. o and rubber too.
Any ideas on cost for front and rear sway bars installed?

It was a hot day but brakes were very good. i changed to ebc red stuff and flushed the brakes with dot 4 600.... also changed the clutch resovior a few times before the day.
Didnt have an issue with powersteering.
There was this E1 Maloo ute who kept overheating by the 3rd lap. i had no issues with temps

Yep everyone is on the money. Its not all just about body roll. This is how I would rate suspension track mods in order:
- Track wheel alignment (including as much -ve camber on the front as possible)
- Semi-slick tyres
- heavy duty/adjustable swaybars
- springs/shocks (but don't go too heavy on the springs for a daily)
Once I did this with my bolt on SV8 I out supersprinted and handled all the Porsche's at Wakefield, including a Porsche 911 (997) AWD Turbo and won the day. I just couldn't believe how much difference the semi-slicks and track alignment made.

Some good recomendations but dont forget the twisting chassie. Consider the BMR sub frame bracing as that stuff on its own made a very good difference to handling and especially helped with understeer and body roll too. Not a bad mod and something to consider.
Some negative camber would be handly for you looking at those tyres. Glad they were second hand as those buggers are not cheap
Some roll is good as that shows that you are getting good front end grip too.
Good luck with it all
