Any stats on this....I reckon about a couple of weeks without driving is about it for the GTO.
Cheers, Pickles.

Sorry, but a bit of a pointless thread imo. Too many factors to consider, for starters, what Brand of battery, how old is it etc etc?

With a brand new Century 550cca, I have left mine for 5 weeks over xmas and she started first turn of the key.

Just go and spend $40 - $60 on a .75 - 1 amp trickle charger and it won't be a problem, just make sure you get the kind that turns on and off when the battery is charged. I have one which I put on my VZ which is rarely driven and it keeps it fully charged

Well the SS sat for over 6 months before I last started it. Optima Red Top :)

My VX Clubby is doubtful by 2 weeks, usually won't start.

My VE Clubsport, dead in three weeks, I keep it on a trickle charge. Standard Battery.

I had my car in storage for over a yr and it turned 1st go but maybe that had something to do with disconnecting one of the battery terminals

Do the tyres get any kind of deformity from sitting stationary for long periods of time?

The Monaro usually gets a run once a week (when I play golf). It had an 8 week period once when it waswn't started & fired up with no apparent problems. The original battery lasted bang on 5 years almost to the day of car purchase.
R/E tyre flat spots. I find any flat spot disappears within half a kay of driving.

If mine sits approaching 2 months it feels like it needs a wheel balance for the first 10km's or so, after that it's fine.

long period do kill off batteries, boats are the same they sit for a while and have no use. once below about 10volts cells start to die on batteries over a couple off years. depends how many items have standby etc how quick they loose it, disconnecting the battery helps

Trickle charge with an automatic charger that charges then slows then maintains and should get 5 years out of a battery

long storage put the car up on stands take all the weight off the tyres

Even with a new battery, mine struggles after two weeks. Seems reluctant to turn over most times, but just gets worse the longer it sits...just likes to be driven (hard!) I guess...

If I go away for work more than 2 weeks, the ve wont start. So I just disconnect one terminal and its fine.

I left the VY for 5 weeks last year while I went overseas and it started first go. I often leave it 2-3 weeks and it never has a problem. I replaced the original battery a couple of years ago with an Exide 550cca.

I've been using a Century battery in my VY for about 3 years now, starting anywhere between 3 weeks and 2 months without a drive and still going strong. Admittedly it doesn't crank as hard as it used to, but it still starts every time.
